My family had a home in Hope Town from about 1982 to 1995. The white local families who had settled here as British Loyalists during the American Revolution, the Malones, Bethels, Russels, in the 1980s were just beginning to lose their village and way of life to overdevelopment and commercialization by the most disgusting Americans, the Floridians. I am not sorry at all that Hope Town got demolished in the hurricane, just an annex of Florida anymore. I wish Florida and California would fall into the ocean.
