@@paulkalff6408 this video makes it seem like everything is fine there. I think that does a disservice to many of the families that have experienced hardships. Granted the entire area is very very lucky compared to other locations south of us.

@@aprilcapozzi-bona5493 Right.....One contact says they are "camping" in their home .... no power....lots to be done....wondering how far inland the surge went into Venice.....looks like most of the damage was caused by the wind, at lease on what is available.....very little on the MSM about Venice.

There is a very special tree near the South Jetty. My best friend, when he needed to think and meditate and make big life decisions, would sit at the picnic table under that tree. This is the spot where he faced off with his battle against cancer, and where we ultimately laid him to rest. I would love if you could point me in the direction of any photos or videos of the SJetty area so I can see if James's Thinking Tree survived. Thank you!

Hi Nancy! I was actually just at the Jetty today taking some photos and video for an upcoming video. To me, it looked like all the trees at the Jetty were still there - I saw no broken or removed trees. There were still the trees in the middle by the picnic tables, as well as on the south side looking out toward the ocean and toward Venice beach area. Also, all the palm trees along the Jetty entrance into the bay seemed fine as well. I tried to find a live webcam of the Jetty online, but the ones I found didn't seem to be live streaming it. But I have believe that the tree you are referring to is still there. ❤🌳🌊 Take care, Liz & Josh

Thanks for the comment. Charlie was Liz's first hurricane years ago. It was a powerful one! Ian was quite different, as it was much larger and lingered longer. Venice really was quite lucky, because a few miles makes a big difference. To the south of Venice the damage gets much worse quickly. Our hearts are with them and hope they can recover soon. Is the jetty and sharkeys ok I'm in venice Florida in the winter and do alot of fishing on the news it said sharkeys was going to be closed at the end of the peir open only to the shack is that still true🙏🙏

Hi thanks for checking in with us and for watching! Yes the Venice Pier is already open. We were there the other day and people were walking down to the end of it - so it all seemed to be open. Also Sharky's is open as well and have already started back their evening entertainment and live music. So things are already getting back up and running around here. Still a bit of clean up that will take time, but that's to be expected. Life goes on down here and I'm sure it will be a beautiful (and busy) winter season! Take care, Liz & Josh

Where in Florida were you to go through all the hurricane's? I lived in Venice, on the island for 28 years and only one hurricane came even close.that was Charlie

Hi Mert - thanks for watching and for the comment! Ah yes, hurricane Charley was Liz's first hurricane in Florida - but she was living in Orlando at the time. Just that year alone there were 4 hurricanes that hit Orlando in a 6 week period! Of course, not all of them had the same impact. Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne. Then the next year Wilma hit too. We didn't get it too bad in Orlando, but it affected our cruise leaving Tampa! Most of the time the storms are not near as bad and we have just experienced the edges of them rather than a direct hit, luckily! Take care, Liz & Josh
