So, Terry... You captured the essence of human nature in times of crisis. The attitudes ran from a happy young lady doing her best to feel like she could make a difference to an older gentleman sitting alone on a park bench, really not sure what to do. I could almost smell the gasoline as you described it. This video was raw, truthful and kind. While watching your vlogs, I have often gotten goosebumps, wept and laughed and had my heart filled with pride to be an american and faith in mankind. And I also think that your documentation is the best I have seen.

Vro so true. Your eyes see it, but your brain can't process it. The surge must have lifted that boat up well over the dock, then waters receded and dropped it, the dock posts splitting right through the hull. Astonishing.

With all the negativity in the news today, and the division in our Country, this is a reminder that things could be far worse, and to drop our negative feelings and attacking each other and remember we are our brothers keeper. It was so inspiring to see the young girl just walking down the street trying to find folks who needed some water. A small gesture, but so heartwarming to see. The folks who've lost so much, but still waving wind beaten flags to show their spirit. "I may be down, but I'm not out"....I live but 90 minutes north of the Ft. Myers area...God Bless.

The National Anthem played by an orchestra as people are holding up their wind torn flags in front of their damages homes certainly gave me goose bumps. This wasn't an Irma or Charlie level storm. This was an Andrew level storm. I went through Andrew, some of my family lived in Perrine, one of the hardest hit areas. They lived in a nice house and were running through the neighborhood as their house blew away around them. They found shelter in a neighbors house that was a bit newer. They were instantly homeless and living in my (parents) house in Broward. Family of 5 living on couches in our living room. My uncle, grown man who actually fled Cuba on a tiny boat as Castro was taking over, crying on my front porch. It's tough not knowing where your wife and 3 kids will be living. They recovered but it took years. They lived with us for 6 months and then were able to buy a new house in Broward once the insurance paid off on their pile of rubble that used to be their house.

Seeing these poor people in such dispare just hurts. I want to reach out and tell them it will be ok eventually but for them right now those words do not really help because when you are there and it is happening to you it all looks so hopeless. My only adivce is when mental help is offered take it!!!!!.. Hah we all think no biggie I am tough I do not need help. OOPS big mistake. PTSD lasted for years. Every time it rained and the wind blew I freaked. We were able to save our house. Lots a lot from it but no biggie. Our animals were ok we were kind of ok besides a torn knee and shattered foot from my cow stepping on me while leading her out of the flood waters the day after. HA and my poor husband had to take years of teasing from people when I brought the cows up onto our deck to save them. This is cattle country not pet cow country. The flood waters came too fast to get them out. We did get the mules out. A year of shoveling dragging debree out of our yard. Rebuilding our house foundation after jacking it up and endless hours of cleaning mud off of just everything we sold that place. It is lovely again. Friends live there so I see it often.

We didn't get it too bad here but I know at least one boat sunk in the neighborhood because the next morning I could smell fuel and see the rainbow sheen on the water. When a boat sinks the fuel will seep out the fuel tank vents since fuel will float on water. It's very messy.
