Hurricane Maria Destruction of Jayuya Puerto Rico

A garden nursery was destroyed by a mudslide in the town of Jayuya in the mountains of Puerto Rico during Hurricane Maria. I spent a month on the island shortly after the disaster helping with relief and teaching people sustainable techniques to improve their lives. I salvaged what I could from the debris to teach local residents to grow their own food. I gave out over 40 pounds of seeds and hundreds of seedlings thru free health clinics and local churches to show and encourage people to supplement their diet with self grown food. Puerto Rico imports 90% of their fresh food.
