While doing some maintenance on my anchors, in prep for hurricane season, was having issue with bolts not going fully into their anchors. This solution did the trick. Thank you!

OMG! I'm a female home owner who started prepping for FL. Hurricane season 3 dsys ago. I have both strip screws that I can't remove out the socket & the ones I removed I can't get them back in. I kept putting WD40 spray in the hole which released bugs & dirt but it still did not allow me to drive the screw all the way back in. I will buy the 1/4 20 tap tomorrow BUT I didn't see where you explained how to remove a stripped screw head. Can you explain. Thank you. So Glad I found you.

What do you do when the whole piece comes out and now it's a huge hole no thread or screw
@LivinginLakewoodRanch4 жыл бұрын
Denine, if you still have the “cartridge” you can get some bondo from a Home Depot and reinstall it. Make sure the threads are in good shape. There are also replacement cartridges available. Good luck!

Any advice on screws being painted over and NOT moving. We have Wd40, used flat heads etc. to loosen them up and they simply aren't moving.
@LivinginLakewoodRanch5 ай бұрын
It might sound simple, but have you tried taking a box cutter, and cutting the paint around the edge of the screw because that’s what sealing it to the house

@@LivinginLakewoodRanch Yes good idea indeed! We do have the ground screws and they are so tight that we are causing the screws to strip. Frustrating.

@@amomwhogamesdbd I understand it is very frustrating. Good luck with your project.

I have a few bolts that have seized up with the shutters on. I got lazy a few years ago and left up shutters in a room that is hardly used because I didn't want to have to put them back up. How can I get them out? I've got a hammer drill and still got the heads heads stripped.

What if the entire thread came out and the hole is big now. ? That happened to 4 of mine. It's a 7 year old house too. Can you show how to fix that ? Please .

Hi Denine, From my experience, when the entire bolt comes out it can be a little more difficult. You can go to a home improvement store and get a Bondo auto repair kit. It is a 2 part epoxy that is very strong. Mix it up according to the instructions, dip the bolt into the mix and insert it back into the hole in the house. Make sure you have the screw in the center of the bolt to keep the threads from getting filled with the epoxy. You might need to increase the hole size a little to make sure you get enough epoxy in the hole to hold the bolt. Hope this helps

You didn't show how to take out the old stripped screws?!?!?
@LivinginLakewoodRanch2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, I have not taken out the plugs that are threaded, thats why I tried to repair the ones that were there. I'm sure there is a way, but I'm not familiar with that process
@gatorwing62312 жыл бұрын
Never use a cutting tap to repair threads. Use a thread repairing tap instead. The repairing tap straightens rather than cutting new threads. If a female threads are bent the the cutting tap will cut off the bent part. That is why you see lead ruminates after using the cutting tap. That results is a big loss in holding power.
@LivinginLakewoodRanch2 жыл бұрын
Gatorwing, that is a very good point. That address the crest and root of the thread without recutting the threads. And that also goes for threaded studs, use a retreading die.

Thanks Gatorwing. I am going to try it tomorrow. I've been in the hot Miami sun trying to figure out both of these problems with the strip screw head & the tread problem. I thought I was going crazy😂😂 not being able to screw the screws back In. Now I need to find a video on how to remove a stripped screw.
