@elijade996 жыл бұрын
I don't know about anyone else but I get the "dad" connection with wires too like the "dad" is dead based on daddy issues "I didn't cry when you left at first but now that you're dead it hurts" and again referenced here "I'm in paradise with dad". I think it sounds like him witnessing the decent from a terminal illness maybe? Like "You can't be treated", "Sick of screaming let us in" etc.

"When I can't breathe don't call for a cop" To everyone who didn't know, this lyric was specifically written in honor of Eric Garner, another black man who was killed by a cop due to suffocation. Sadly, this lyric now can also apply to a black man by the name of George Floyd. #saytheirnames This just makes me appreciate The Neighborhood as a band even more, before I didn't even know what that lyric signified and didn't pay attention to it. I'm glad I do now.
@essie.4 жыл бұрын
I thought it was just meant to highlight the hopelessness of his situation, as in "Don't call for help because I can't be saved". It makes sense for the overall feel of the song but I'd like to know the source for your info.

Lyrics: R.I.P. to my youth And you could call this the funeral I'm just telling the truth And you can play this at my funeral Wrap me up in Chanel inside my coffin Might go to Hell and there ain't no stopping Might be a sinner and I might be a saint I'd like to be proud, but somehow I'm ashamed Sweet little baby in a world full of pain I gotta be honest, I don't know if I could take it Everybody's talking, but what's anybody saying? Mama said if I really want to, then I can change, yeah yeah R.I.P. to my youth If you really listen, then this is to you Mama, there is only so much I can do Tough for you to witness it but it was for me too I'm using white lighters to see what's in front of me R.I.P. to my youth And you could call this the funeral I'm just telling the truth, yeah You can play this at my funeral Tell my sister don't cry and don't be sad I'm in Paradise with Dad Close my eyes and then cross my arms Put me in the dirt, let me dream with the stars Throw me in a box with the oxygen off You gave me the key then you locked every lock When I can't breathe, I won't ask you to stop When I can't breathe, don't call for a cop I was naive and hopeful and lost Now I'm aware and trapped in my thoughts What do I do? What do I do? I don't believe it if I don't keep proof I don't believe it if I don't know you I don't believe it if it's on the news or on the Internet I need a cigarette I'm using white lighters to see what's in front of me I'm using white lighters to see R.I.P. to my youth And you could call this the funeral I'm just telling the truth And you can play this at my funeral Tell my sister don't cry and don't be sad I'm in Paradise with Dad Close my eyes and then cross my arms Put me in the dirt, let me be with the stars

This song scratches my heart in a way where its telling it " it's okay to cry" but whatevers scratching has nails so it hurts, but comforting. I just wanna sob to this and idk, but i love this song. its so raw, and beautiful.

The saddest part is that nothing in this world is ever really ours. In the end, we’re gonna die and everything we ever did would have been for nothing. There’s not a point to any of this. We lose everything in the end; our youth, our memories, everything that made us human.

I love this song soooo much but wouldn't it sounds more accurate if they said "I'm in paradise with dad, close my eyes and then cross my arms, put me in the *dirt* let me be with the stars" instead of dark because he's being buried.

This song pulled a string...then I started sobbing😭😭😭 this is so relatable. The part “Tell my sister don't cry and don't be sad. I’m in Paradise with Dad” that hit me. I have a sister and I love her and I don’t wanna see her cry and my dad is in paradise. And for those who’s listening to this amazing song and you’re feeling like life sucks and that it seems like there’s no hope, here’s what I have to say: everyone is just like a glow stick, you have to break before you shine. Don’t forget that. And I know that no one wants pain and that everyone wants happiness, but remember this, there’s a rainbow after every rain. Believe me I know. And keep fighting, no matter how hard the battle is, no matter how many scars you have, it’s your battle scars, it’s proof that when life tried killing you, you survived. It’s proof that your strong. DONT GIVE UP. NEVER. BECAUSE THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE WHO CARES AND LOVES YOU.(including me) I MUGHT NOT KNOW WHO YOU SRE BUT I KNOW ONE THING, YOU.ARE.WORTH.IT. DONT FORGET THAT

R.I.P. to my youth And you could call this the funeral I'm just telling the truth And you can play this at my funeral Wrap me up in Chanel inside my coffin Might go to hell and there ain't no stopping Might be a sinner and I might be a saint I'd like to be proud, but somehow I'm ashamed Sweet little baby in a world full of pain I gotta be honest, I don't know if I could take it Everybody's talking, but what's anybody saying? Mama said if I really want to, then I can change, yeah yeah R.I.P. to my youth If you really listen, then this is to you Mama, there is only so much I can do Tough for you to witness it but it was for me too I'm using white lighters to see what's in front of me R.I.P. to my youth And you could call this the funeral I'm just telling the truth, yeah You can play this at my funeral Tell my sister don't cry and don't be sad I'm in paradise with dad Close my eyes and then cross my arms Put me in the dirt, let me dream with the stars Throw me in a box with the oxygen off You gave me the key then you locked every lock When I can't breathe, I won't ask you to stop When I can't breathe, don't call for a cop I was naive and hopeful and lost Now I'm aware and trapped in my thoughts, oh What do I do? What do I do? I don't believe it if I don't keep proof I don't believe it if I don't know you I don't believe it if it's on the news or on the internet I need a cigarette I'm using white lighters to see what's in front of me I'm using white lighters to see R.I.P. to my youth And you could call this the funeral I'm just telling the truth And you can play this at my funeral Tell my sister don't cry and don't be sad I'm in paradise with dad Close my eyes and then cross my arms Put me in the dirt, let me be with the stars
