As a little girl, my great uncle was an older man. We children couldn't understand what he was saying. It wasn't until about 10 years later that we discovered he was from Liverpool. As a boy, he had stowed away on a tramp steamer and made his way to Texas.

I live about half an hour away from Liverpool and was told that someone who suffered the loss of a dear one locked the padlock onto the chains then threw the key into the river Mersey

Thanks for that. I've only seen a padlock bridge in a European city and newly weds placed one with their names and marriage date on and locked it and threw away the key . I think the Liverpool remembrance one is a lovely idea . If I ever go I could place one for my husband who passed away 2 years ago.

I always worry when Sherpa drinks water from fountains. I keep thinking that there may be chemicals in there to keep the water clear. Thanks Jamie & Sherpa for going to Liverpool, my husband and I were supposed to go there on a cruise but we had to cancel when he was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer so we never made it there. Liverpool seems so good! It's arquitecture! And the blue sky! And the so loud bells... and Jamie in the photos! The street food bus was a great idea. So many food options. A one point I was like: Jamie, eat, drink something! A very good trip!

The padlocks are a symbol of love. You attach a padlock symbolising everlasting love then throw the key in the Mersey. Many of the keys are engraved some have been there for years. Bye 💁🏼‍♀️
