Outmarched and outplayed the big boring LHB!

Both Bands sounded great. We are proud of our Husky Marching Band. They have continuously raised the Bar for entertaining half-time shows. My favorite show was the “Bond” show they did last year at the Alamo Bowl.

6-6 record next year.

Hope not. But with all the Coaching changes and the Transfer Portal it’s anyone’s guess.

I was surprised at how small UW's band was compared to the Texas marching band.

Due to travel expenses, the entire band could not attend. We were missing over 60 Band members. I spoke to some of the Texas Band members and they said all of them were there because the venue was within driving distance for them.

@@seadawg4278- Even if this game had been played in Pasadena and not New Orleans, and the Texas Longhorn Band was going to take to the field for a pregame and halftime shows (not just sit in the stands as a pep band), the entire LHB would have made the trip. The LHB is simply a larger marching band than than the husky band, with or without the so-called 60 missing members. Talk about low budget (for a CFP game, no less). I looked at video of the Husky Marching Band performing at a home game, and it is clear which band is bigger. It goes without saying that the LHB is a much better band as well; arguably the best college band in the nation. I have seen both of these bands in person over the years, Texas several times. I suppose they will leave 60 members at home for the national championship game, with the game being so far away from Seattle, and their being on a limited budget (despite the fact that the athletic department did and will receive a lot of money for the two games).

Well, sorry to burst your bubble but the entire Husky Band will be in Houston. Musicianship and tune variety matters. Both Bands are great at what they do.

@@seadawg4278 - No bubble burst here. The entire Husky Band was in New Orleans as well. I marched in a big-time college marching band program; I know what is and what is not a great marching band. The Texas LHB is a great band; The Husky MB is not. The Husky will face another great band tonight when they take on the University of Michigan Marching Band. Ironically, the last time (only time) I saw the Husky band was on New Year’s Eve (December 31, 1980) on the practice field of the UCLA Bruins Marching Band. They were practicing parade formation, etc., for the Rose Parade that was to take place the next day. My high school band from Washington, D.C., was in Pasadena for the Rose Parade, and we were about to start practicing for the parade once they finished. No one in our band was impressed by what we saw from them. I/we would have preferred to have seen the Michigan Marching Band practice, but missed them because they were heading to the practice field earlier in the day as we were departing for Universal Studios. The Husky band has always been mediocre, and continues to be. I see they have never won the prestigious Sudler Trophy(my college band was the 6th recipient of the award). GO BLUE!

Did the full UW band travel to Houston for the game last night? On television, they still looked very small compared to Michigan's band.@@seadawg4278

Oh man, they need to practice. The Texas band is so much better.

Totally different Marching Styles. Huskies are a traditional high stepping Band. They march 8 to 5 (8 steps for every five yards) Texas is 6 to 5. Texas sounds great though. I recorded both bands at the Alamo Bowl last year during their half-time show. Check out this video. (excuse the shaky footage at the beginning of the Husky Band. Some guy decided to get up and bump into me to get some food or something.) I think you will agree that both bands really sounded great! vimeo.com/manage/videos/788158593
