Everything we see about them is a sob story spun by Emet-Selch (Remember, the "Amaurot" we see is a simulacrum created by his memories and his nostalgia and his longing), and by actually having played the game I say again: Fuck them. They killed themselves by playing God to a point where they couldn't even live their daily lives without using that bizarre creation magic, and they had it coming. And the lengths the current villains go to in order to "restore" their world at the expense of literally everything else? Yet again: Fuck them.

The best part of FFXIV music is the ability to understand with a deeper meaning things like the true story behind the Ascians and their fate. Words only tell a part of it. As of right now, I concider Amaurot one of the best dungons out there. Not just for the music but for the setting. Esecialy the 3rd and final part as you overlook the world and see that it wasn't just Amaurot or even the contanent that it is on that was burning, but the entire star itself.
