Hey Donny, happy friggin Friday my Canadian brother.. Side note, I built a 52 mm big bore and was the perfect cylinder to learn how to port on. For a firewood saw its a bit of an animal. It is great to do a full port job and muffler mod on an inexpensive motor. Thank you for all of your tips because it allowed me to confidently port my own motor. If the thing blows up I'll tear it down and see what went wrong but until then I'm running the snot out of it. Thanks again for helping out us hobbiest saw builders.. Cheers brother

Hey Donny, I have a mint pioneer from 1966 or 67. Even has the original bar and chain. I'd like to send it to you because I think it's something you and the channel might be interested in. I can't find your email in the description. I'll be happy to send some photos if you like to determine if it's a good idea.. Thanks again for all that you do for us.. Cheers

I have a 570 that I believe is similar to that one. It's a strato saw and quite heavy but it is a pretty smooth saw and seems to run pretty good. I wasn't sure if I liked it so I let my buddy run it for about a year then I used it to to cut most of my wood this year and it really warmed up to it.

@Matt-4169 ай бұрын
You are absolutely correct! The 576 was a very smooth running saw. I've not seen one in a professional environment, but I know of quite a few that see heavy use as firewood saws (10-15 cords yearly), and they're great in that role. It definitely had me excited for the 572.. until the 572 happened and is... Well, not exactly what I was expecting from the successor to the 371/372. At 8:05: you say that the 372 should have been 75-77cc. I'm curious as to why... To compete with 046/MS460 & 461? Because the husky 71cc 371/372 did just fine against those, until the x-torq shenanigans.

@@saltrock9642 I like the Red Armour and the Husky premium, but they are expensive; then again its not like I still burn gallons of it. The Stihl Ultra sort of smells like the engine is burning up or a little skunky.
@saltrock96429 ай бұрын
@@rooster3019 yep. My saw shop sells very little of it. It’s a Stihl dealer and the owner never has recommended using it. Tip: do not dump a 2.6oz container in a gallon of gas thinking it’s correct ratio. The little bottles are sometimes short which is why I go with 40:1 or 3.2 oz per U.S. gallon.

Any thoughts on why Husqvarna went with such a long stroke of 39mm over the 36-37mm stroke of most other 70-75cc saws? The advantage is obvious, but the disadvantages also seem to outweigh them, hence the standard being 36mm across all manufacturers for a reason.
@Matt-4169 ай бұрын
Obviously the stato-charging makes a hugely positive difference in performance, with a measured air leak to boost rpm and heat.... But what are your thoughts on why husky went with a stroke more typical of a 90cc saw as compared to those same performance gains on a longer stroke being typical of a strong 70cc saw? Gains vs handicaps? Why?
