I just got this exact saw free off someone's curb, couldn't believe my fortune. It had cracked fuel lines and primer bulb. Tricky carb removal on this one. Took the carb apart and the diaphragms/flap gaskets were good and pliable. Runs great now!

Hi from Australia... after taking the top off, I could see the fuel line had perished/split where it came up from the tank below and entered the carburettor. Looked in fuel tank, saw there was an excess of two or three centimetres, so figured I could pull a centimetre or so through. I'd never have figured out how to de-link the throttle linkage! . Your video helped so much, thank you! I didn't know how to get the carby out far enough to pull the split bit of fuel line off and slide the new bit over. Your excellent instructions saved me a trip to the local repair shop and a hundred bucks, or so I suspect! It took a bit longer, cos I didn't have a suitable hex screw driver, but managed slowly with an allen key. Thanks again! They are VERY good saws- have had mine through at least ten chains , two bars, and a sprocket.

Just repaired one and they aren't too bad to work on. To diagnose a no start I have a squeeze bottle of mixed fuel that I squirt down the carb and then give the rope a pull. If it runs for a second that tells me that it has spark and compression then I will investigate the fuel system. I always pull the muffler on 2 cycle equipment to look at the piston too.

Geeeezzzzz ! I have an older original 55 Rancher made in 2004 which has been trouble free and easy to service [stuff like the fuel lines and air filter is all that has been touched]. Looks like Husky really cheapened their 455 model and made it MUCH harder to work on. Mine did go under water one time during a flood. It ran ok when I fished it out but the coil went dead a few days later,..guess it got water saturated and shorted out. It has the original 20" bar on it and I have went through 4 or 5 chains but that is nothing. I never leave fuel or oil in a saw when I finish using it is the key to problem free service.
@micmichaeladflak63733 жыл бұрын
My 460 stopped dead the other day. wouldn't restart. after removing the intake cover I could see she was wet inside the case. Spark tester was showing spark. then after pushing on the primer bulb I could see fuel seeping at the carb inlet tube and then realized my thumb was wet. primer bulb cracked also. she's 10 yrs old and I guess all the plastic lines have served their time. I have all new fuel lines, filter bulb carb kit coming from h&L $55.00 in total but hey she will be good as new. love these educational vids. thank you for your time and knowledge and sharing that knowledge with others.

On my 450 I just pulled out the carb. It should not be that freakin hard to pull it out. They should have made it easier to service. I was worried I would cause an intake leak as I struggled getting it in and out but it runs fantastic after I cleaned the carb.
@ianritchie1264 жыл бұрын
The first thing I do with any non runner is check compression then if that’s ok put a drop of fuel straight into the cyl , if it fires you know it has spark so it’s a fuel problem , could be other problems also etc
@mtsflorida Жыл бұрын
Two other components he didn't mention that go with compression, fuel and spark are air from intake filter and electrical circuit or cut off switch.

I have the same saw where fuel line dry rotted having to do basically same thing but it was, or seemed easier removing the carb disassembling the top handle/grab bar as well as the throttle handle but now re assembly was a pain as far as throttle linkage routing and back up inside throttle trigger this being my first time on the 455 rancher I could be doing it bass ackwards
@earltharrisjr69553 жыл бұрын
I replaced my carburetor with a Walbo kit from Amazon. The Rancher 455 fired up on first pull. However, when i pushed the choke in the saw was still running fast and when i squeezed the throttle it would bog down like it was trying to stall. What did I get wrong on the install? Do I need to adjust the carburetor?
@SmallEngineDIY3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the carb needs adjusting. Running too rich and floods with the throttle. Try adjusting the air/fuel mix on the high side.
@cobhc19862 жыл бұрын
Just a quick tip, on the 455 and 460, I find it easier to remove and replace the carb if I take the whole handle assembly off. Just 3 screws and the whole engine assembly can be taken out of the handle. Makes it a lot easier getting to the bottom 2 screws holding the carb on.
