I'm working on a 51 now doing basically same build. I ran out of exhaust tube. And ended up cutting up a jack handle to get my round exhaust pipe and welder it in . Not easy on that thin muffle lol.

Got a 51 given to me that needed a cylinder. Didn’t port it, but set it up without the base gasket. It’s a solid little saw. Nice one to add to my collection of Stihl’s.

That’s awesome. One of my favorite saws is the 55. Great size for working.

I have a 50 that was giving to me scored to hell. I converted it to the 55 and ported it. Wouldve like to go a little farther with the open port transfers but was leary. Only had 20 degrees of blowdown.

Thats a neat little saw, did they also come with a old closed port?
@leifvejby80232 жыл бұрын
No, but you could mount closed port cylinder from Partner 5000 - 5500 or Jonsereds 490 - 590, and get quite a screaming saw.

Some 55 saws had closed, some open. the rancher was open, the EPA version was closed. I have one of each sitting on my shelf. I don't think the 51 was available both ways, but I could be wrong.

Those Stay-Silv silver brazing rods are really nice quality too… it’s great stuff! Stumbled across some with some shop tools and equipment that a guy wanted hauled off… I’m glad I went through everything and that I didn’t just toss everything… I hated tossing off the old drum cutting lathe but I couldn’t find anyone who had any current use for it???

@easingrapod1274 Жыл бұрын

Hey bellhopper! I've taken a little Hiatus from KZbin but question for you a Husqvarna 351 in pretty good if not almost mint condition from a reputable person. He wants 350 but said he will take $3 25. All my buddies are breaking my stones saying how it's not worth it but I don't know man what's your opinion? And what size bar you think I could put on there to rip some wood? By the way I hope everything with your back is going well! It's been that long! LOL
@bellhoppersaws2 жыл бұрын
Its basicly a larger 346 some people turn them into 346 its a pro saw with a mag case they usually sell for around 5 bills in good shape. When ported they are stout and 18 is bout as far as i would go

On a Husqvarna 55 can you put a 61 piston and cylinder on it
@johnsonlong1272 Жыл бұрын
I won't say you can't but it won't bolt up to stock holes.
