Awesome!! Love it when you open it up and hit 30mph! Great upgrade...and that 3D Pen technique is pro.

Thanks! I think I can hit about 35 mph but unfortunately we started getting snow before I could get there. That pen is really coming in handy thanks for the recommendation.

I'm going to attempt the same with a 55cc Redmax Chainsaw motor. You've inspired me to move away from the scooter build into something a little more practical.

for more torque you can fit a smaller rim at the rear. I think put 16inch kids bike rims on the back. get a thread of the same diameter as the rim and weld it to the rim.

Nice 30 miles per hour on the mountain bike that's fucking fast. Any faster you need bigger tires or you get speed wobble probably, But if you get larger fat boy tires Until 29 inch rims, I bet you could do 45 -50 mph no problem

Hey I have a problem so I welded the sprocket on the outside of the clutch and I’m using the stick 7 speed on my rear wheel so when I hooked it all up I couldn’t pull start it unless I lifted the back wheel up because it was to hard because of the chain so I had to lift the back wheel up but when I did that the chain fell off cause it was loose, do you think that’s cause I need a chain tensioner?
@JGD163 жыл бұрын
Two parts to a centrifugal clutch. The inner mechanism connects directly to the engine crank and the outer piece spins freely. the free spinning one is where the sprocket should be connected. As far as a chain tensioner if you have a very short amount of chain you can get away with no tensioner but if it’s a long length of chain you definitely want a tensioner

What makes this one better than when you had the chainsaw all on the left side of the bike?
@bryanharoldfuller8330 Жыл бұрын
@Oliver Ries , more balance being centered Rather To the left or right of the frame, Would be my 1st guess Then having it behind the seat compared to in between the frame above where the Pedal sprocket was Reduces the chance of burning your legs Or Heating up your nuts.

The jackshaft has completely changed the gear ratio, and that is the main difference.

what chainsaws/engine size and power would you recomend for this?
@JGD162 жыл бұрын
I used a 51 husky the bigger the engine and the clutch the better off you’re going to be. With a smaller engine you’re gonna have to gear it down a lot which in return you will lose top speed. I also use some electric chainsaws which are a pretty good option 80volt chainsaw e-bike ⚡️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHqVp6CMp9eNjJI

what if you got a really small sprocket, and hooked it up to the derailleur?
@JGD162 жыл бұрын
You could do that but the bike would not takeoff very well and you would probably burn out your clutch pretty fast. Most important thing is the gear ratio you want the engine to turn over roughly 20 times for every one time the wheel turns that seems to be the sweet spot for my chainsaw.

I have a problem. I made a Chainsaw bike but my clutch smokes and creates a high temperature. Do you perhaps know to what extent it could be a problem. The chainsaw is the same power as yours.
@JGD163 жыл бұрын
You should check your drive ratio. That’s how many times the clutch spins per one revolution of the wheel. My bike is running close to 20:1 and the clutch seem happy. Anything lower than that you need to change the sprocket sizes and or install a jack shaft.

Very cool just imagine what could be done with the right gearing for the right job or all round gearing good torqs an good hp ie great take offs an great top speed bet with the right gears could have it doing 80mph but with an assisted take off
@bryanharoldfuller8330 Жыл бұрын
@stepchild , I was thinking that too but you'd have to upgrade the size of the tire Get those fat boy tires and like 29" rims On a normal mountain bike 30 miles an hour is fucking fast and you're hitting speed wobbles Anything faster. But with the larger tires and rims you could easily do 45-50 mph ,I don't know about 80...
