Nice to see someone taking their time! Husqvarna don't make axes, so guess who makes them? A Gransfors bruks in UK will cost around £150.00 I paid £33.00 for Husqvarna model which has a better handle. The grain orientation was dead on. Gransfors bruks handles are not! Brilliant axe. Do a bit of work on the edge to how you want it, and sand the transfer of the handle, if it bothers you too much. Some people complain about something so trivial!

Hi Buddy, very nice chopping! Until now, i did not handle a Husqvarna Axe, but i think i'll do so soon ... i notice that the Hickory handle on your Husqvarna (with the 2 safety instruction pictograms) Looks very much the same like on a Hultafors XY10 axe... probably from the same factory. Cheers, Erik

Erik1970Viking Very good eye, Eric. It is indeed the same handle, and really the same head. Its the same axe just rebranded, a little less refined ( the bit isn't polished nearly as nice or sharpened as evenly). I bought this axe for 60 dollars shipped but it seems to be going for about 72 USD now which is still a amazing bargain for what you get. I have every Husqvarna branded axe except the carpenters axe because the head is just to heavy for a 19 inch handle. Buy any Husqvarna axe and you can't go wrong. I am going to make a video very soon of my whole axe collection so stay tuned and thanks for watching! - Josh

Awesome, brother! Great job! I have the smaller Husqy Carpenter's Axe and second all of your thoughts below. Great axes! -Dave

Thanks for watching Dave. I will be having a bunch more videos of axes ( new purchases, old restored and rehandled axes ), and knifes/bushcrafting gear up soon! I think the Husqvarna line is the best value on the market today but there is a couple other gems out there too!

Josh Diehl Nice to hear, my friend! Love everything you mentioned and subbed ya! I just did a series of vids and a small field review on the Husqy Carpenters Axe. If you get some time to swing by and check them out, it would nice to have you visit. The only thing I didnt film was putting a shaving edge on my Carpenters axe but the steel is excellent, it sharpens well, and holds an edge tremendously. Look forward to your vids and talking with you again soon, brother! -Dave

I already did watch 2 of your videos haha. Yeah I agree on the steel really good quality for the price (or for any price for that matter but especially for the price tag). Keep up the good work!

Do you like thick handles? IMO the multi purpose forest axe comes WAYYYY too thick. By the looks of it, your handle is super thick too.
@joshdiehl87373 жыл бұрын
Yeah man, crazy thick. I actually prefer it though to be honest. My gransfors axe the handle is nice and thin all the way around. The Husqvarna axe its crazy thick all over so I thinned it out in the profile I wanted where I hold the axe. The rest of the handle is still extra beefy. It has a few over strikes and this handle will never fall apart.

@@joshdiehl8737 thats awesome! I'd like to try a GBA someday.

A good measure for the cut is to make the cut the width of the diameter of the log.
@rowanfernsler97254 жыл бұрын
2x times the diameter of the log normally works great

Nice vid brother, how's the axe holding up? Do you like it? Is it worth the money? Thank you.

Thanks for the comment, and I appreciate the view. I LOVE this axe. I actually bought another one because I liked it so much. For the money it is bar none best axe on the market. The Marbles axes are also an excellent value (but do not come with a leather sheath and the steel isn't quite as good but they are much cheaper). I own every Husqvarna axe in the Husqvarna Axe line except the carpenters axe and they are all exceptional quality. I'm not crazy about the hatchet but that's only because the handle is too short for the head weight. This 1.9 lb head on the 26 inch hickory handle is perfect! You can usually get these on Amazon shipped for free from Bailey's for between $60-65 dollars.

Thank you brother, thats actually the axe I want the carpenters with the 19" handle , which I think is perfect for camping and a SHTF. Again thank you.

Was that cut made with the factory edge? Had you reprofiled it or touched it up?
@joshdiehl87379 жыл бұрын
I own 3 of these because I love them so much for the money. Out of the three one came super sharp, one needed just a touch up, and one I slightly reprofiled. If you end up getting a good one its every bit as good as a gransfors. Thing is for 60 bucks the quality control isn't the same so it is a crap shoot. Either way worth the money.

Nice work. What kind of tree?
@joshdiehl87379 жыл бұрын
I really wish I knew! I was actually hoping by someone watching they might be able to tell me. Tree ID is not really my strong suit. However this spring/summer I am going to buy tree ID guide and go out and learn. In the very immediate local area there is almost no soft woods, so this is a hardwood tree.

And thank you for watching!

The forest I cut this in has essentially no soft wood trees (what we just call evergreens around here). This was some type of hardwood tree. Not sure what though. Thanks for watching.

+79pejeperro Softer hardwood, most definitely a hardwood. No softwood trees grow naturally within a 20 mile radius of my house.
