After you make the first pass remove the boards and keep the feet of the saw on the wall to keep the blade perfectly square with the wall and plunge cut. I also recommend using a hand saw for the first cut instead of the ring saw. The hand saw blade won't try to deflect as much if you rip steel.

if yoou work with concrete its an asential tool its really work well on concrete they made a great tool

will the ring saw cut thru concrete with # 5 rebar in it, 8 inches deep

It will actually cut 10 inches deep through what ever bar is in it as long as you don't rip cut the rebar.
