Man, if those are RGB light strips, you should see if you can wire each individual side to flash with your turn signal. That would be crazy cool. Whole bike lights up red when you hit the brake, hit the right turn signal and the right side flashes red or amber to indicate your turn.

Really cool license plate mount. Can you elaborate a little more on that plate mount? Brand of mount, fabrication parts list?
@zacmagers3 жыл бұрын
Thanks John! So the main plate bracket itself was from Revzilla part number P339165. This wasn't what I originally had in mind, a vertical mount in Cali but went with it for now. As far as the machine screws, spacers and so on unfortunately I cant recall detailed size specs but this was a full metric arrangement. I had to use a 90mm long screw to bring the plate far enough from the sprocket and I used Chrome ( now painted black ) spacers for support. For the secondary support brackets that are midway down the main plate holder, I actually used some custom fan brackets we use in a motion picture dimmers we build. Those are just to fight some of the vibration fatigue on the main 90mm machine screw on the swing arm. Besides that its all high strength nylon nuts, split washers, and fender washers. Sorry I couldn't provide the metric size and more detail! Thanks

Agreed on that. Getting the bar end plugs out was a little bit difficult, possibly because I was prepared for it and under tooled. But once you get those plugs out it’s level 1 easy, couple holes for wires and tap into factory turn wires. Little bit of a learning curve was the positive / neg wire match up. Also anyone doing this on a bike that does not currently have LED turn signals, you will need a LED relay

Thanks! Did the full instal myself, this is my third installation and its for sure getting easier. This time was no problem at all. Wire dressing was easy to tuck and hide and gave me an opportunity to clean up some of the factory wire routing which was not taking aesthetics into account to say the least. A lot of the 2021 Svart and Vit on the road right now in U.S. were built in Dec / Jan / Feb in India which was peak Delta variant for them and Im sure it was hard at the factory level for them. The longest process of this whole mini custom was removing about 17-20 factory stickers and labels thrown all over the bike....yikes. Thanks for watching !

No joke the first time I fired the bike up and drove it less than a mile, pulled over and the very serious thought went through my head the manufacturer must have forgot to add oil or it was significantly low oil.... A sound like that coming from anything else and you are in serious engine trouble. I just passed my running in period, asked the dealership about the excessive noise and was told it was normal. I hear this top of the engine knocking on other folks videos too even on the 701. 4 year warranty, we shall see what happens.

@@zacmagers That's funny. I went through the exact same thing, stopping after the first mile, calling the dealer... and getting the same response. Meanwhile, change it's oil and test it's limits.. Oh yeah, bring a cell phone on the rides...just in case.

@zacmagers10 ай бұрын
Howdy! That would have been interesting…at the time of making this video I was starting to get a taste for minor customization and had thought about starting with LED light kit installs. Never got to a point where I researched how much of a market is there. The main bracket was from Revzilla, and the swing arm mounts were actually prototype parts left over from a Noctua fan bracket design from my previous job. The light was a reuse from the factory fender. It actually would be a fun project / consideration. I’d most likely work with Send Cut Send for the parts, offer installs in Los Angeles. I would imagine most of the fun would be in coming up with new designs for different models.

@zacmagers2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! 100% you will get some kick back of dirt and water that seems to make it right to the face of the taillight, haven’t seen anything reach the topside of the pillion yet. The set up on my bike was to achieve general minimalism and I knew that would come at a cost. Both rear and front fenders are gone, which means no riding in any rain or wet roads of any kind, not even a quick puddle, unless I’m ok with being covered in mud from the front tire. Inclement weather just means I’m back in the car so it works for me. If you enjoy ridding in rainy conditions then I would suggest not removing the fenders or finding an aftermarket fender that’s to your liking. Hope this answers your question have a great day!

These things are extremely effective and because they are extended past your body and higher up on the bike, easier seen by moving vehicles.

Howdy ! That’s a great question. You can indeed have these in that type of set up and many do have this set up in states where they are more strict on glowing lights. There is a lead coming from the the power supply kit that you can connect straight to your brake wire after the break switch, so that when your brake is activated the red light comes on. Without brake activated the lights turn off.

Hey Zac, awesome mods, especially the lights. I just picked up my 401 from Tri County in Moorepark last week. How difficult was the wiring for the lights? Really want to do something similar to mine but not confident in my electrical abilities.
@zacmagers3 жыл бұрын
Howdy! Congratulations on the new ride, Tri County has been great to work with so your in good hands. There has only been one “issue” I ran into with them. This bikes oil reading must be done after warm up and is not easy to read without extra hands or a level bike stand. About a couple months after my first service I decided to check the oil level per manufactures guidance and…my oil level was too high. I panicked and contacted them. They had filled the oil with two liters when in fact it should only be about 1.7 liters. Not a huge difference but concerning. I recorded a call discussing my concern just in case and they informed me that unless I was experiencing characteristics of an overfilled oil res that I was OK. I checked the air box to make sure nothing was shooting out or building up and so far so good… just a caution there. As far as electrical abilities, basic electrical know how of positive and negative wires is mostly all it takes. The general light kits you can buy come with almost everything you need. Admittedly I had to dig into some internet help to identify positive and negative wire colors on this bike because I didn’t have a meter and the colors vary across manufactures. But that was mostly for the heated grip install. There are two levels of installing light kits. One to just simply add some flair, and one that taps into your break wires for the break safety. If you aren’t tapping into brake wires, it’s a simple as terminating the light kit leads to your battery and choosing where you want your light kill switch ( mine is hidden under the pillion seat). If you do want to tap into your brake wires, you need to disassemble some items from under the pillion seat, battery and tool kit and so on, to locate those wires. It’s not complicated however. Do some research and give it a shot! This low voltage wiring will not short something or break anything, so if it doesn’t work just connect things back to the way it came and enjoy your lights. If you ever need some advice on what I did, I’m happy to explain more. Zac@ratpaccontrols.com Cheers

Howdy Lian. I was a little thrown off by the smaller bar ends myself. I had realized I missed on buying the bar end adaptor they sell. That’s the real way to go. Since I didn’t have the special tool, I did have to drill them out which was a project. Then it’s just finding which rubber grommet from the kit works best to keep them snug. Good luck on your mods!
