Your IDF system should only be engaged for normal sewing and never with hooped embroidery. If it is engaged, gently pull it down, towards the back of the machine and upwards to disengage. It. Attaching the ribbon attachment as Miss Sarah does here (I love her videos btw🥰) by approaching in sort of a scooping motion from the back is key. Hope this may help you enjoy this FABULOUS machine to its full potential and good luck and happy sewing/embroidering.
