oscars are a big fuckin joke. anyone with a brain doesnt take that serious
@ernestb44734 жыл бұрын
@@deathrager2404 That is so very true. Oscars are bullshit. The best movies don't always win (for political reasons, cash under the table, and other shady shit). But the fact is, that if a movie gets an Oscar, it's a good movie. Even if they fuck over the deserving movie, the film that gets the Oscar has to be good in it's own right, or else the committee looks bad. Hustle & Flow was a damn good movie based on it's story/screenplay, the acting of it's top notch cast, very well directed, musical score, etc. I was actually surprised when I watched it.

@Mancunian Prince, I know right it is so amazing how good of an actress she is!! Its so crazy that she has ALWAYS known how to sing and in fact mentions that is how she was discovered in college by Debbie Allen-- if I am not mistaken by BEING a triple threat, She could: Act, Dance, and sing. I wonder if she ever thought about actually becoming a singer in real life?? 🤔

Not some larger than life super star who couldn't hardle make a record without, song writers, musicians, producers, sound engineers, vocal coaches, marketing and public relations team. I mentioned this in another comment but the first time I saw this, I wasn't thinking "oh, this is TH." Right? Most movies I watch, I normally ID the actor and then try to buy the role their playing. Throughout this movie, I never did that. The whole time, it was all DJ. That's so rare. And it's a crime he didn't win Best Actor for this. I'm not kidding. Literally nobody, I don't care if Meryl Streep was playing a man or if Tom Hanks was playing a woman that year, nobody did anything better than what TH did as DJ. You nailed. His energy was incredible. Every bit of it was full on. It isn't often a character can make you love him one second, hate him the next, then get up on your feet and dance a split second later lovin' his ass again.

It's 2024 and it strikes me how genuinely Taraji's emotions come through. As an A list actress this is nothing new, but I connect with that feeling of inputting something "raw" and hearing it come out as something you *almost* don't recognize. Something so polished and clean. Something someone else has put their talent or hard earned experience into. It's a breathtaking moment that I think the world of filters and auto-tune has slightly taken from us. Major props for Taraji for delivery here.
