Turned out really great! I've been waffling back and forth on if I want to do this to our bed (headboard, footboard and side wood panel rails). It's a really dark real hardwood. I already have all my supplies...just need the courage to do it (and time with 6 kids lol). Thanks for the new video!

I admire how you just went forward on your project. I see others removing glass and doors, but worry it won't go together so neatly. I might do white on most of cabinet only leaving the ridge at top and shelves the same oak brown. Hope the etching removes easily.

I accidently found you and I am so glad I did! I have an old hutch (probably made of partacal board) that came with the old modular home that was left to me. It's a catch all and when I renovate my kitchen, I had planned on throwing it out but now I think I'll just paint it like you did. Perhaps a few coats of white would bring it back to life and make it worth keeping a few more years. I may even take out the dishes that are stored there and use them and place items that belonged to my Grandmother and her Mother on them along with their pictures. How cool, huh?! Thanks for the inspiration.

I love it. It really turned out beautiful! What would be beautiful in that hutch would be blue willow vases, bowls, and plates. You can find them really cheap at junk stores. My daughter has a huge collection. That stuff is so beautiful.

Heather Gould , jami ray vintage also sells diy paint which is clay based and safe, it is also easier to wet cloth distress you can also water the paint down. It isn’t cheap but it’s so versatile and also heavily pigmented so you can mix colours to tone them down it lasts longer than chalk paint. You can also make your own chalk paint cheaply, by mixing a vinyl based paint, any colour, with a powder mix, this can be Plaster of Paris (Amazon or eBay) or powder filler for walls, the kind that you mix with water to fill holes. The mix Is 2 cups paint to 1 cup powder and that’s it, there are tutorials on mixing your own chalk paint on KZbin, it’s so much cheaper and the same as the expensive brands, no pre sanding, just wipe over your furniture to remove sticky marks etc and paint away, give it 24-48 hours to dry to sand paper distress or immediately to wet distress then wax if you want. It covers wood, metals, bonded melamine sorts of cheaper furniture too!

I think that's the beauty of chalk paint, that it is super user friendly, even if you do get little hand prints in it ( bless her little heart ). You did a beautiful job, good foresight when you purchased this piece! Two things I love, a solid piece is loved again by a new family...and the character, it pops with the paint, especially the cross hatch detail on the glass, gorgeous! Must feel so good to look at it now. Happy New Year to you guys!

You did a great job!! I painted my moms old hutch. It’s so much like yours. Did the same color and painted the inside too. I used Benjamin Moore’s Advance primmer because I didn’t like the bleed through. Then chalk painted it in Behr farmhouse white. The sanded down the edges. Came out great too.

i used a container in that same brand to seal my daughters doll crib and it was a varnish that you paint on with a paint brush, i also didnt have a lint free cloth so I decided to do the clear varnish instead. I think I will always go with the varnish, it was so easy to apply.

The hutch looks amazing. The house is coming along. Let me give you a tip, Don't be in a rush or get upset because the decorating seems to be going not as fast as you'd like. If you take your time, things will come together and it will look great in the end.

@@karrielynn i have been in my home for 10 yrs. We decorated the 1st yr and then afterwards but it seemed like something was missing. Now, we have just finished our first remodel and I'm more in love with my home than the 1st day we moved in. I am in the process of switching my decor from chefs to farmhouse lol. My kitchen looks incomplete but its the slow pace that wins the race. Other parts of my home feel complete now. Wished I had the notion to take my time in the beginning instead of rushing.
