Very cool to see this pop up after so much time has passed since the doc was posted :) For some fun bonus context --- I had been messing around with this documentary-style type content on my channel for a little while, started having some dialogue with Machinima, then before too long was flown out to LA to meet with them. I pitched Machinima a Hutch documentary, and actually chatted with you for a quick minute at the Inside Gaming Awards about it (you were the nicest guy, and took the time to sit down and hear me out amidst the groups of people approaching you). Conversations eventually resulted in the “Save Point: History of Machinima Respawn” series, which unfortunately didn’t perform well. Decided to stop making content after that experience, but still wanted to get a Hutch documentary out there - you deciding to step away from KZbin at the time was the catalyst to making it happen. Thanks for being super cool at the IGAs, during the interview process (for the History of Respawn series), and when this doc was originally posted. Watching your videos back in the day motivated me to try my hand at content, which led to working with Machinima, which showed me getting an opportunity to work in gaming can be a reality if you work hard enough. Years later I’ve managed a really solid career in the gaming/nerd/geek industry for myself, not in content, but advertising/marketing. Thanks for everything, Hutch!

I'm a bit drunk at the moment, so my feelings after watching this video are pretty heavily nostalgic, this video really brought back some treasured and half-forgotten memories. Your genuine and honest character was an inspiration as a 14-year old kid back in 2009 to look up to.

Man, that ending had me welling up. I remember the day you announced you were leaving Machinima as if it were yesterday. I'd broken up with my high school girlfriend literally the day before, and when I heard this news the following day it tore me up inside as a kid. Like a comment said in the video, it was like I'd lost my big brother as you were someone I couldn't wait to see as soon as I came home from school every single day.. I'm 23 now, and seeing that back still brings a tear to my eye. You're one of the few content creators out there who have been around long enough to have a generation pass through them, and to me that's a true testament to the person you are that so many people have stuck around and can share these memories. I still talk about you with my group of friends who are all in their early/mid 20's, and it's a beautiful thing that a simple mention of the name "Hutch" can turn us all back into 15 year old's laughing about Call of Duty 4 and your Respawn days. You really have been an inspiration, and I'm sure I'm not the only person here who shares that sentiment. Hope to share a beer with you one day my friend, it'll be an honour.

I have to be honest. The last part of the video is just pure truth. I remember watching the video when hutch said he would leave Machinima so well. And i also remember how empty i felt inside afterwards, because Hutch had always been the funny entertaining guy of the group and it felt hard to watch him leave (at that point we didnt know if he would ever return) Gladly he did. And i am happy to have watched your videos from when you were still part of the Machinima to the Trials Videos with Nanners (the best videos there have ever been) to Cards agains Humanity to now Old Man of Optic. I think i speak out of the hearts of a lot of people when i say that hutch hasn t just made 5 minutes of our life better, but has been a ever present person and to my life influential person on youtube (and especially your so you re... videos really helped me out at a time in life that wasnt the easiest. I hope you will keep doing this for much longer and keep having fun with it. A long time watcher and fan from Germany

Man, Hutch. I started watching you around 2008ish, and you were just another youtuber I watched every night before bed, but college is where you were pretty much my therapy. I used to play a lot of MW and MW2, and most likely watched every single MW2 video you put out. I was so ecstatic when you joined Machinima. It was like WE were going to Machinima with you. Watching you and Nanners and Sark was like chilling with friends. I was pretty upset when you quit youtube. I used to google you every now and then to see if there was any information about you, and what you had going on. To say I was excited when you came back is an understatement. It really was like your strange (slightly) older brother coming home from who knows where. This video was a legit blast from the past, and made me remember how much I watched your videos, and the same tough shit I was going through while watching them. Thanks for all the years of your hard work Hutch!

Believe it or not I followed the gaming community extensively since it's conception on KZbin. The legend as I know it, is that Xcalizorz, and Blametruth were posting straight up unedited gameplays, I believe xcal had a series called "I hate my team". A viewer suggested that Blametruth voice over his commentary, so he did. You can actually still find the video, it's pretty cool to see how the community was spawned pretty much from that commentary. Whilst this was going on, other youtubers like hutch, zzirgrizz etc were doing there own thing without really being aware of everyone else. Honorable mentions of Cod KZbin history: Cr1msongunner, and ibles3ed "don't remember how to spell them" either way Cr1mson was one of the most bad ass cod4 players of all time, pretty sure he disappeared out of nowhere. Ibles3ed is a rare person but I'm 99% positive is a dude in his late 20's that is still on hutch's,Blametruth's, and xcalizorz (the 3 codfathers) Xbox friends list . He was insane at getting feeds on cod4. That is my understanding of it all.

Then about a year ago I saw a recommended video of OMOO and I instantly subscribed and have been watching you ever since. Watching this video has made me want to look back on your old content that I never really was able to enjoy and see your roots in gaming. Your videos really do help me escape from reality and those 20-30 minutes out of my day that I get to watch your content are always time well spent. I hope you know you give so many people happiness in watching your videos and I hope you continue to enjoy putting up these amazing videos up on YT. Hutch, as someone who started watching you in high school and continuously since then it's been a journey. It's crazy to think that watching someone play video games and talk about life will leave a lasting impact on the way someone behaves and carries themselves but I can honestly say it happened. I know I'm not the only one out there but I feel like I have to let you know just how much I respect you and how even though I've never met you, you feel like a big brother to me. Thanks for everything and continue being the amazing person we've all come to know and love

Wow I can't believe it's been so long. I still remember watching all these videos as a 10-11 year old, maybe even 9. Just wanted to thank you for the countless hours of entertainment Hutch, didn't understand much as a kid but looking back now I found your videos and respawn's so fun to watch. Will always remember those times and I'll always continue to watch you!

I remember when you left KZbin for a while. It was a depressing time, but when you came back, everything just started getting better. Been watching you for around seven years now. I was 13 then, you are probably one of the most influential people of my life. I appreciate everything you've done and how far you've come.

Gotta be honest, I've always straight up hated CoD, but I've always loved watching your videos Hutch. Watching this made me very glad that you decided to come back to KZbin almost five years ago instead of just walking away, because you continue to make all of our lives better for it. Thanks man.

That was heavier than expected, but tastefully so. And very true. You won't know the effect you've had on us because you're not us. But you've been great and helped us cope with crap bevause we've seen you do that. You're just a good guy.

I can't believe how much time has passed. When I 1st started watching you I was just some guy in middle school that never did his homework and watched all your stuff on my little iPod touch. Now I'm moving out to my own place very soon. It's really nice to hear from you and I wish you the best.

Hutch you might never read this comment but you've gotten me through a lot in life. watching your video was a constant release for me going through middle school/ high school and up through today. The big brother comment hit the heart! Ive been watching hutch for years and it seems like no other youtuber (or human being for that matter) is more skilled at what he does. Which is connect with his audience and continue to figure himself out as a person, both at the same time. Truly admirable Hutch. Love ya man!

From being like a kid who was like 8 years old playing call of duty you were my hero. I was so inspired. Still watch your videos and I’m turning 20 this year. It’s crazy the impact you’ve had man. Keep doing you

I've left similar comments before, even on the retiring video, but words are hard. I teared up at the end of this because of how much it resonated. Especially your deep talks like the personal Bioshock commentary that isn't up anymore or your deep Dead Island convos with Nanners. Some good memories in this video and some not so good ones but thats life. Loved seeing Fwiz, Tejbz, and J there. You have taught me a lot: from opinions, to change and growth, and how to be civil in disagreements. I feel like I've been in your life due to your dual coms with Julia and Mom or the CodGod and So You're series but you have been in my life and will continue to be.

"That must've been real out of nowhere for the viewers..." It really felt like a bomb dropped out of nowhere. You were the first person who touched my life across the internet and you didn't say that you were taking a break, it was just "I'm gone". I remember posting comments along with a ton of other people on Machinima Respawn videos, SeaNanner's videos, and even your most recent video at that time, asking for any shred of info about the situation. You can imagine how fucking happy I was when I heard you were coming back.

Hutch, I've been watching since I was in 7th grade (2007... wtf!!!) and I have to say this is one of my top 5 favorite videos of all time without a doubt. There are times that I will watch your videos religiously and other times when I will stray away for awhile, but I am always drawn back in because you are one of the absolute realest people I've ever (figuratively) met. As I've started to get a bit older I've had some thoughts that I need to stop watching these "idiot youtubers" and grow up... but then I think fuck that! I've learned as many life lessons from your videos as I have from any other source in my life. I don't normally comment on any videos, but I just wanted to let you know that what you do is a bigger deal than you could ever truly realize. Maybe the 30 beers that I've drank since noon are making me a bit too sentimental about things, but holy shit this brought me back! Keep up the good work man!
