Fantastic video! I was riveted to every moment but the old lampshades at 22:06! What a revelation! What inspiration! I have a few dozen of them from old projects sitting around my handyman shop, taking up nothing but shelf space! They are headed to the garden TODAY! What a fantastic use of them!! Thank you!

Glad to see how people grow in different climates! Can be frustrating when lots of UK gardening content on youtube is focused on the south of England. Seeing the robust polytunnel in the Highlands has made me think I might be able to do the same on my exposed site :) Good work!

While I lived in flats my whole life, I did grow up with my family always having an allotment and growing our own food. When I moved out (to Scotland) I missed it more than I could've ever expected! Unfortunately, residing in Glasgow didn't lend itself to gardening. But then I moved to Finland and immediately did what Gaz mentioned - started growing on the balcony! It's so exciting to get my own tomatoes again 😄

I am really sold on the idea however I haven't figured a way to do it without animal products...if there is a way I know you will know :) thanks so much!
@amarketing8749Сағат бұрын
Yes, because getting manure even in the suburbs of the city would be hard. Not to mention, your HOA might have a problem with manure being delivered to your home.

Can you do a video on how to do hot bed growing? It isn’t clear to me and I have many questions like won’t it get too hot. What is the best thing to put in it, how do you add to the hot bed once things are planted, how much compost do you add on top…etc.
@bhalliwell219112 сағат бұрын
Huw, at about 1:09:23, you mention having had garlic growing where now you have French beans? Have I understood correctly? If I have, this is very, very exciting, because conventional "wisdom" (which might not be!) says that legumes can't be grown immediately after, nor concurrently next to, alliums which have an inhibiting effect on the legumes or beans. And this season coming, I'm going to be hard pressed for space with adequate sunlight for growing both beans and garlic, so if these two plants actually can be grown successfully next to each other or the dwarf beans among the garlic, that would be marvelous! This year in particular we can't afford to experiment recklessly, after having planned...rather inefficiently. Much gardening love from Northeast Ohio, U.S.A.! 😊💚💚💚💚💚😊
@HuwRichards12 сағат бұрын
I take no notice of the vast majority of conventional wisdom🤣
@bhalliwell219112 сағат бұрын
@@HuwRichards 🤣 H'eh! Perhaps, then, this will be my year to rearrange a couple of beds just for the purpose of finding out, and leaving the rest of the garden strictly segregated according to "conventional wisdom." Thanks for the reminder to laugh! 😀

what about the seeds? its been almost not mentioned where the gardeners get them from, are they collecting, saving, excahanging and so on. Nice content anyways ❤
@HuwRichards12 сағат бұрын
UK gardeners get them from seed suppliers like real seeds, kings, premier, Tamar etc. Not so much seed saving as many gardens don't have the space to save all their seeds, or time!
