Great content as always Will mate, I don’t really see any podcasts that are doing what you’re doing in the electronic music world, helps a lot.

Great podcast - yes, I do get a buzz from Radio 1 airtime (i'm 41) - yes, scene's are more important than ever but still intertwined with politics and back-scratching. Yes, authenticity will eventually come good if you stick with it, it's almost a form of quality control.

Great content!! But honestly great djs and producers changing to podcasters and inlfuencers scares me a little bit. It supposses that you should be producing music and playing shows, not talking about "how to make it"

I think its a process like with soccer players who turn into coaches after some time, and for sport area people got used to it, so its nothing strange, for music not yet. So finally electronic music grew to do it and share the knowledge, I like it:)

@@mrgibonskc and also you cant make continual hits, so at some point this makes sense to move into podcasts and sharing knowledge

I disagree with you. There are no should or shouldn'ts in this world. I am allowed to do whatever I want. If I want to talk to friends about the industry and allow people to listen then I will. Also we are all influencers now whether we like it or not whether you have 10 or 100k followers there is all a level of influence if using social media. Conversations like this is a way of giving back to the community and allowing newer artists the knowledge to break through. Whilst these conversations take just over an hour and the editing I can also go make music and tour as well as doing this. 24 hours in the day its just what you do with it.

@@willclarkedj Sure!! You can do whatever you want. I never said the opposite. I think that is great that you are in a position where you can decide what you want to do with your career. Sadly it is not for everyone. This phenomena of musicians becoming podcasters/youtubers/influencers is weird cause they are not concentrating in making music anymore. Probably cause is not as profitable as it used to be Anyway thanks for sharing your thoughts

Yep, the social media impact has drastically took away from what it was (and is) all about. Labels should sign great music and do their job on promoting that record and build artists (for new artists anyway), but they dont wan to. So my advice, is work hard, save money and release your music yourself and put money in PR/Promo companies to get it to the artists you want, network and do as much as you can to build some momentum. You have to be very lucky to start from nowhere and get signed to the top label. But if you make a track thats undeniable, things will just work anyway

Big Spotify Playlist placements. Gigs. A big label record release. Music can just be music. Monetizing music and creating art can be mutually exclusive. Some of the best music out there are vinyl only releases with no intention other than putting good music out there. Make music and art for art. The process of trying to be "successful" takes away from making art for the sole purpose of creating.
