What's the overall life cycle of titanium suppressors compared to other metal suppressors?
@CIA_Alien
@CIA_Alien Ай бұрын
@@MrGottaGo there is no life cycle. You can only ruin a suppressor by overheating it like shooting one using full auto or not performing maintenance by not cleaning it and ruining it via internal sprawling. If you plan on firing in full auto, titanium (IMO) is the only way to go. But you can cheat like I did and use KA-WOOL and high temperature grease inside. This makes for extremely easy maintenance, a bit quieter (subjectively wet) and keeps temps down.

Better Idea....Close the doors of the ATF forever. They are a redundant and OUTDATED organization...We no longer need them to regulate tobacco, other agencies already cover alcohol regs by each state, and explosives can be shifted to the DHS.

I got one to go along with the PS90 I recently bought and SBRd. Haven't gotten that out to the range yet, but I have put one mag through it with the M&P 5.7. That gun breathes fire, even through the suppressor. I was afraid something was misaligned and I was getting strikes because of the what looked like sparks flying out of it, good to see yours did the same and it's not something wrong.

@@sultanofsicka lot of people have good experiences with the Tx22 from Taurus. I did not sadly, I see a couple people here with bad experiences with the Sig p322 while I have had nothing but a good time with it. Really? I have one and it’s ran 95% fine. The 5% is the usual .22lr prone to malfunctioning. I’ve only used CCI mini mags tho, the copper plated ones. Interesting some peoples experiences, I’ve had a Taurus TX22 competition pistol that jammed every 2-3 rounds but only when a suppressor was thrown on it. Sold it for the p322 and have loved it since.
@PBVader
@PBVader Ай бұрын
@@scoobarsteve7948 I mostly agree, subtracting the punch fail to feeds, I would place it at 99%. Stacking the mag incorrectly is what jams some people up. We had this figured out decades ago with the mark 2 plus 3 mecgar mags, but some never learned from that dance so the lesson must be handed down.

The 322 is picky about how you load the mags. If you use the loader that came with it there are practically no issues whatsoever. If you load the mag with your fingers it’s 50/50 as to whether it will work or not. CCI Mini Mags run the best in my experience.

Pretty sure a lot of .22 pistols don’t need that, and or the .22 suppressors are usually light enough to not need it if the pistol doesn’t have a fixed barrel. Keltec P-17 and Sig P322 and a couple others have fixed barrel designs
@kellyweaver8422
@kellyweaver8422 Ай бұрын
Most 22 pistols have fixed barrels. So you don't need a booster. If you have a 22 with a browning style tilting barrel breech lock then you might need a booster for reliable operation. If the can is light enough it might still cycle with some ammo but not with other sub sonic ammo.

Look up Breakthrough suppressor cleaning solution. $100 a gallon but you submerge your can in a tube full of that solution, wait 48 hours and then rinse with water and air/blow dry as much as you can out. Shooting should get any left out. Just do be very mindful of the material of your suppressor with water. Find some kind of tube container, I used some $5 water bottle from hobby lobby that can close/seal and then fill the tube up, throw the 22 suppressor in there and come back 48 hours later. Rinse with water (titanium won’t rust) and then blow dry it through the openings to try to get any remaining water out. Love it a lot more than taking the Rad 22 apart, sonic cleaning it then drying each piece off.

Unless you’ve got an American-180 or you’re Tim Walz, a flow-through .22lr can makes about as much sense as installing a tampon machine in the men’s room.

My .22 cans really gunk up my pistols fast, would the flow through design reduce this? I have an original OSS Flow Through can in .30 cal at the shop that the owner said I could have for free but it sucks (Heavy, AND does not work well) so I wont even waist the cost of a stamp on it.

As for serviceability, all of my .22 cans (except an old SWR can I bought 15+ years ago) are on form 1’s that I designed and machined myself. I made them to be user serviceable and machined them to take a .002” piece of stainless shim stock around the inside of the tube that I can easily and cheaply replace… I had all the surfaces other than the shim stock PVD coated, followed by tumbling all the parts with .5µm hBN powder (except the shim stock, which I spray with hBN dry film spray), which essentially makes them cleanable with a wet paper towel. This process can be done to commercial cans and yields the same cleanup results, which cuts out the frustration and hassle of cleaning .22 cans. My original comment wasn’t meant to denigrate OSS/Hux at all (I think they make great 5.56 & 7.62 cans). It’s just a silly concept to use for a .22lr can unless you’re mag-dumping a full-auto .22lr/5.7x28, which 99% of users aren’t likely to do. I don’t own any select-fire .22lr hosts, so the volume of traditional flow cans is perfectly fine and I’d rather take the tone, performance, and flash reduction of a standard flow can over the minuscule level of backpressure reduction of that the .22lr produces. And if your .22 host is having chambering issues or excessive port noise, both can usually be remedied pretty easily. But most issues that would arise on .22lr suppressor host stem from ammunition issues, magazine issues, or reliability issues with the host gun itself.
