No heat is coming out of my furnace because the thermostat was accidently stuck in a funky mode that comes on at weird hour. I don't want to pay hundreds for new furnace motor that isn't broke or for expensive Honeywell tech to change mode. How can I work mode button to cancel scheduled on /off feature and make it just normal auto run heat not scheduled heating?

@StephenRardon 5 жыл бұрын
+roz perry best thing would be to call an Hvac company to check it out. If it doesn’t blow at all then it may be simply a breaker that is tripped but most often it is internal to the unit and not something that an untrained person should dive into

I have this thermostat and have programmed it as shown in your video. I have it set for WAKE 5AM and SLEEP 10PM. But every night it comes on at 3:30AM and not 5AM as programmed. I do not have a manual because I bought the house a few months ago and seller left no manual. How can I fix this issue? Thank you
@StephenRardon
@StephenRardon 5 жыл бұрын
There is a feature called “adaptive intelligence recovery” which allows the system to come on early to get the temperature to the desired set point at the time rather than start at the time you program. Easy fix would be change the time to 6:30 rather than 5:00 or disable the adaptive recovery feature. Don’t recall which setting that is off hand but if you go to forwardthinking.honeywell.com you should be able to dig up the full manual.

What's "Aux heat" and why does it come on instead of "Heat On"? My heat is set to 80 degrees but it's only 67 degrees in my house. What am I doing wrong?
@StephenRardon
@StephenRardon 9 жыл бұрын
Ladi Leo sounds like you probably have a heat pump system. The "aux heat" means that the electric heat strips are supposed to be coming on to help the heat pump do it's work. if the system is not keeping up even using the aux (auxiliary) heat then it sounds like either the electric heat strips aren't working or the heat pump itself isn't working. are you able to select Em Heat or Emergency Heat on the thermostat? A fairly easy way to confirm if the heat strips (aux heat) is working is to select Em Heat and see if the air coming out of the registers is warm or not. if it's not warm, at all, then your heat strips are probably not working and you should call a professional to check the system out and make necessary repairs. as a consumer it will be difficult for your to 100% confirm if the heat pump is working. other than going outside to see if the unit outside is running i can't explain how to confirm if the heat pump is working properly. so, select em heat and see if the air is warm and if not call a professional. wish you the best of luck!

Thank you very much for your response, I truly appreciate it!! So I turned on my EM and the house only warmed up 4 degrees in 2 hours; it's only 71 degrees and I still have it set to 80 degrees.

Not in a million years would I have thought that something as easy and inexpensive as changing the filter would have caused me so much grief. I am now on a strict schedule to make sure that it's changed monthly. Thanks again for all of your help :)

Hi Steve i have the Honeywell 8000 vision pro thermostat but i am still unsure of the terminals i should be hooking the 2 wires up to. Is it the heat relay terminal "W" and "R"? thanks in advance
@StephenRardon
@StephenRardon 10 жыл бұрын
Chris Purvis No Problem Chris, the R terminal is the incoming power and the W is the heat relay. did you notice which wire was connected to what terminal on the old thermostat? Ultimately it doesn't REALLY matter as the system only has 2 wires and the R & W terminals will simply connect inside the thermostat when as call for heat is initiated. Make sense? i would suggest to probably remove the small jumper wire between RH and RC as that is only for a system that also has cooling connected to it.

I'm running the thermostat on batteries.....does that matter with my setup? There are no letter designations on my old thermostat.... Its an old mercury WHiTE Rodgers thermostat
@StephenRardon
@StephenRardon 10 жыл бұрын
you'll HAVE to use batteries actually, otherwise it won't work at all. The joy of digital devices, they need power. so, if they didn't designate what was what you should be fine just hooking up either which way you want. it's just a contactor (basically) inside the t-stat which put the power in touch with the heat relay. shouldn't matter at all

hi is it possible to install this thermostat with my existing 2 wire thermostat thanks
@StephenRardon
@StephenRardon 10 жыл бұрын
What type Of system Does the current thermostat control? This thermostat can be setup to control a wide array of systems but it will not Work with a communicating system. If you've got a heat only system it can be setup for that. And may be able to work if you've got cooling only. I think, off the cuff, that the only system that would be two wires would most likely be heat only.

@StephenRardon
@StephenRardon 10 жыл бұрын
I like the wifi functions that are available with new thermostats. My personal favorite would have to be the Nest. Honeywell comes second, Lennox, Carrier (sucks) and Trane is last only because I've not played with many and have little to no opinion either way.
@nicholasrowan2768
@nicholasrowan2768 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have the nest at my house I'm not the biggest fan of it only because you can not do dual fuel with the thermostat. I like the train XL950 only problem is that you need to pay for a subscription how do you feel about being able to buy wireless thermostat Sat and Depot for $117
@StephenRardon
@StephenRardon 10 жыл бұрын
Now there you're only correct with the first gen, maybe. I've set up a bunch of them on dual fuel but can't recall if they were only second gen devices. Dual fuel on the nest is AWESOME, don't need outdoor sensor wires, it takes the odt from the web like the Honeywell wifi ones.

Wow dude....wash your hands....These things are a piece of shit. I wanted a straight forward thermostat that allows me to set the heat temperature or cool temperature and then turn it on to heat or cool. This thing is a nightmare maze of programming and hidden schedules and special secret codes. It's like having to solve a puzzle just to turn your light switch on. I can't get this damn circulating fan to stay off. It's costing me money just blowing all the time. No one seems to know how to shut it off. Piece of techno junk.
