Been watching your videos for a long time now, I went from apartment maintenance tech to ac installer to a hvac tech for a residential company and now working as a commercial tech working on chillers,vrfs and cooling towers. I still find myself coming back to watch and mainly cause of how simple you explain and exhibit your work. Many blessings my friend!

good one -- wonder if there's some crazy button cheat code to turn off the delay. Speaking of delay, how long is that delay?
@LexVance Жыл бұрын
5 minute delay. Longest 5 minutes ever. 😆
@chrislayton5787 Жыл бұрын
@@LexVance I am a certified rookie. But the Honeywell thermostat does have flashing cool on that protects the compressor. The longest 5 minutes, like you said. And I may be stumbling on to the cause of my problem. My outside unit will run, good vent temp 55-56 but it cuts off before it reaches the set temp on thermostat. Yellow wire at thermostat loses power. All of the other wires have 27 vac. And like the Honeywell support rep said I would have measured 27 vac on the yellow wire at the thermostat if I had checked it before the premature shutting off.
@chrislayton5787 Жыл бұрын
And I'm still thinking on this while I'm getting my meter... Is my problem (the premature loss of power on yellow wire at thermostat) going to be either the contact on the outside unit or the transformer at the control board? Yesterday when I went downstairs to look at the control board I barely got a whiff of something electrical. That could be that transformer. True? BUT, that transformer sends 27 vac to the control board and I had 27 vac on all of the other wires at thermostat. Is this the point where you decide it's the control board that is bad? Thanks again.

The 5 amp fuse*
@LexVance Жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly as this video is old, there was no fuse. It was cooking the transformer, though. Didn't fry it totally but was hot. A fuse protects the transformer from frying and there wasn't a fuse in this unit if I remember correctly. Thank you so much for watching Than!
@davidrose96382 жыл бұрын
Next time , save yourself a headache and throw a fuse on the common as well that way you’re protected from back feed.. and won’t have to worry about popping a transformer while tracking down a low voltage short.

Why when you jumped the red and green the fan came on and when you the jumped the red green and yellow the fan didn't come on ?
@LexVance2 жыл бұрын
The bad contactor had a short and was cooking the transformer. So it wasn't getting clean power when I put the yellow wire in there. If I would've pulled yellow off, the fan would've come back on. Thank you so much for watching Nilberto!
@justanotheryoutuber52282 жыл бұрын
Why would a delay last super long for a bad contactor. That makes no sense. Whether it’s time delay or not it’s usually if I’m not mistaken 1-5min delay
@LexVance2 жыл бұрын
It wouldn't come on at all. The delay is usually 1 to 5 minutes like you said. This unit looked like it was in delay but wouldn't turn on at all. Thank you so much for watching just!
@musiccd43212 жыл бұрын
Perhaps the fuse didn't pop because instead of 3amp fuse the on-call guy put a higher 5amp or 10amp fuse by mistake lol . Just a thought .
