I've put in over thirty pioneer minisplits. I recommend them over the higher priced alternatives. For the price, if you get 5 years out of it and it starts having problems, just install a new one.
@TonysTractorAdventure Жыл бұрын
For the price, I totally agree. My Pioneer 24k BTY is 5 years old. Still going strong.

Good job! I think you lost (or reduced) the vacuum by removing your gauges. Should break the vacuum by releasing the refrigerant first, then remove gauges.
@acostaae90 Жыл бұрын
if you remove the gauges after releasing the refrigerant wouldn't that release refrigerant out once you remove the gauges? or does the service port shut on it own once you remove the gauge?
@crowderglen Жыл бұрын
The shrader valve will prevent refrigerant from being released. However you will loose a tiny bit when removing manifold.
@coryr63593 ай бұрын
@@acostaae90 yes. but the system is designed to lose a small amount of refrigerant for servicing/installing. Ideally, you will remove it quickly enough that only a small amount is lost.

For those that are wondering if minisplits work they are waaaaay better than a window unit of same btu. We got a 12000 btu conforttotal for 480 bucks to replace a vroke after 1 year 550 dollar window unit for our rv and it works twice as good id recon

How much power are you generating from the solar panels and consuming from the cooling unit? How much power is left?
@TonysTractorAdventure Жыл бұрын
I don't know the exact numbers but during a sunny day, My small solar unit cools the building and my travel trailer without ever moving grid power. It also keeps the batteries full. My solar system is a learning system. The next one will power the whole place.

I thank yo for your thoughts. I have put several of these in. My first was almost 8 years ago. Still going strong. I didn't cut the line, because most homeowners would stop at the vacuum pump. Pioneer asked me to do it the way a homeowner would do it. This unit is still going strong too.

You do not any of those special tools with a Mr Cool mini
@TonysTractorAdventure10 ай бұрын
Mr. Cool does offer quick connects but It comes with a price. You don't see the videos where the quick connect leak down. You also don't see the videos where the quick connects jam while putting together and leak all of the freon out. Once you install it, there is absolutely no way to test it for leaks other than to let it leak. The Pioneer and the way it is installed has worked for over 100 years. Vacuum the lines down and watch the lines on the gauge for 24 hours. If you get back and still have the same amount of vacuum you have no leaks. Full transparency, I have never personally worked on the Mr. Cool. However, my uncle and cousin owns an air conditioning business. This information comes from them.

I would never leave the copper coiled up like that. And what home owner has a vacuum pump laying around
@TonysTractorAdventure Жыл бұрын
I left the copper line just as the manufacturer recommends. There is one homeowner that has a vacuum pump lying around. He made a video. You can buy a complete vacuum pump kit to do everything that I did for just over $100. I bought this vacuum pump to install a mini split 6 years ago. Don't be such a negative Nancy. Life will l be much better.
