Sometimes not every job goes smoothly. Thanks for posting though. Something I've learned from exhaust setups is by the time you're there running a call on them the store heard the noise months ago and now multiple other parts are damaged. You want to be a mechanic and fix a specific part, but sometimes it's more cost effective in the long run to replace the whole assembly.

One thing Im curious about, since Im sure it wasn’t the OEM motor you were replacing(dayton label). Any chance the old and maybe the new motor were rated for “cont air over” on the nameplate? Remember that those exhaust fan motors do not have airflow going over them, and if they are rated for cont air over then they will naturally over heat in that application. Lots of HVAC motors are rated for “cont air over”.

This one was an OEM replacement. However, in my learning process, I did replace 1 vent Hood fan motor with a universal fan.... Burned out in 6 months 🤣🤣

Feel your pain went through that one time before. Those direct drives will kill the bearings in motor quick unbalanced. I've replaced a few fans with the OEM assembly that comes with motor/blade then I take the old blade to a buddy at machine shop he bathes/cleans it then checks balance. Now I got good blades to swap with motor changes 👍

Bro that’s crazy. I had an issue not long ago. Replaced a Dayton motor from grainger and it would blow the breaker as soon as it started. Brand new motor was no good. I don’t fault grainger, I think the Dayton quality has decreased over time.

Sometimes if you dont use an oem motor you have to use a shaft adapter.

Just had the same problem at a HEB on friday night... ridiculous as to trying do it by yourself at 1am..... then i cant find the parts at united😡😡😡😡
@rookierefrigeration43575 жыл бұрын
Mauricio Villanueva this motor has to be rated for a certain heat leve. I forget what it was but I replaced one with a motor from United and it burned out in like 8 months. For this case I used an OEM from Grainger. Always go OEM.

Any reason the motor shaft needs to be that long?
@rookierefrigeration43574 жыл бұрын
No. But there’s nothing under it so it can be long and not hit anything.
