On a unit that takes in fresh outdoor air, and exhausts indoor air, and energy wheel rotates like a spinning disk with the fresh outdoor air coming towards you through the top half, and the indoor air is flowing away from you through the bottom half. The energy wheel grabs heat and humidity from the outdoor air, then rotates around and puts it into the outgoing exhaust air. It preconditions the air using only the power of the motor to make it rotate. AKA: "heat wheel" or "enthalpy wheel"

I found this problem with a set of wires with a lineset run under a beautiful patio. They spliced it somewhere under the patio. I needed a yellow and didn't have any. I ended up running about 50 ft of 5 wire around the foundation of the house and garage as the patio was not moving. I don't know if the customer ever had any problems with the lineset but I told him he might in the future. The patio was cement and marble, heavy and settling.

Aaon are the ones with the energy wheel or you can get a little separate unit to install into your system. They're pretty cool

@2jlrivas The thermostat wire should go from the air handler to the condensing unit to control voltage to the compressor contactor and/or the defrost board.
@DrZarkloff14 жыл бұрын
@hvacjourneyman You don't always need the amount of wires that are in the bundle. It's okay to cap off the ones that you don't need. You never know when you'll need them sometime in the future.

It is scary what you find in walls.... Ive found splices on a 50 amp stove circuit, laying on heating ducts waiting for someone to touch it and either get knocked or have it short to the duct and flash....

I need to upgrade to the 5 wire from a 4 wire 😩 I upgraded the thermostat to a smart thermostat and its recommended to use the blue or C wire. But I'm in a old house so the wires is ran through the return in the basement. I forgot old houses they make returns through the rafters rather then duct work smh

Dr i recently installed a new 5 ton unit and it seems to never cool below 81 degrees. Do you think their can be a problem with the thermostat wiring? Thanks

I ran into a condenser that the thermostat was not wired to it. Where do the wires from the thermostat go. The only place I could see was terminal on the contacts. Could give me some insight on this situation. The thermostat wires are coming from the a/c unit (furnace) inside this trailerhouse. Thanks

how you install the wires out at the board

Thank You Sir, seems like I run into a lot of heat pumps with only five wires to the Thermostat, and find the rest of the wires taped off or capped. Why do people do this.

I haven't checked yet, but do you have any videos on how to wire low and high voltage to a furnace and blower ac unit.

got a question..i'm installing a goodman variable speed 95% furnace,2 stage gas valve and the blower can be set to blow from 600 to 12 cfm...the homeowner will eventually build an addition to the house but right now the house will need barely 600 cfm's, i was thinking gas valve on first stage and blower on the lowest setting but i was told that i may need to lower the gas pressure if running on low cfm which makes sense but i wanna know how do you figure out the proper gas pressure then?

lol, learn something new every day! I would have never thought of using that to slice the jacket open, just assumed it was to give strength to the set for pulling. lol. Thanks ole man :> M@

Question, is there a wire running from the thermostat to the furnace and blower. And a separate wire running from the condenser unit outside to the furnace inside? If not help me understand please. (straight ac unit not a heat pump)
@YearZeroHero12 жыл бұрын
My wire system has: O, W, G, R, Y, 4 We have oil and a wood burning furnace separate . The thermostat i am trying to install has B, O, Y, W, G, R, Rc...the wire running between 4 and R was on the old thermo, but it only ran between those two...now there is no hot air blowing...for the love of god

I was trying to install a new 5 wires thermostat replacing an old 4 wires. I used extra wire as c wire but the furnace terminal board side already has a wires attached to it(C and Y), which runs to out side compressor unit. when I attached the new run c wire to this c terminal it is blowing out my 3 amp fuse. where should I connect the c wire of the new thermostat then?
@drzarkloff5069 жыл бұрын
it sounds like the wire that you're connecting to C terminal on the stat is connected to something else in the air handler.

@@drzarkloff506 Lol.... you could never edit out your uhs and ums. That would delete a huge 30% chunk of your video. Be well...... Besides, there's nothing wrong with uhs and ums. Many people can't help it, just like my brother can't speak without waving his arms and hands like a conductor in front of an orchestra.
