No boards, just good old fashioned analog... Relay, sequencer, PCM motor. No failure prone ECM crap. Reliable and relatively cheap to fix. Ah, the good old days.

I agree, simplicity.

When I am replacing a motor or fan relay where two speeds are wired in. I always wire it so only one speed is used… I don’t want any chance that something sticks and energizes two speeds at once which will burn the motor windings. Good work Curt

That unit looks really easy to work on.

Nice repair. I know the music you were listening to was better than what we had, dang copyright. It looked like they had vacuumed out the filter, which is better than nothing.

If that cap has a 5-6% range, 6.8 is out of range for a 7.5 cap. Acceptable range would be 7.05 to 7.125. How did you determine the motor was bad?
@HVACGUYКүн бұрын
It wasn’t low enough to stop the motor

When using a variable speed blower, which settings are used for heat and which for cold?

It was only humming because it didn't know the words! 🤣 Might be easier next time to bring a print-out of the lyrics. 5:05 - And, since I'm kinda on the subject of lyrics/music, I'm sure what you were listening to in the van would have been more enjoyable, but rules are rules... And having been on the Creator end of issues with copyrighted music many times myself, I know firsthand that sometimes ya gotta do what you gotta do.

you do realize you put your thumb against those pliers before you discharged the cap, right? old habits are hard to break, and very very rarely do the hold enough to bite ya, but it does happen. just lookin out my guy.

Why don’t you ever vacuum out any units in your repair ever ? I’ve seen a million of your videos and if it’s a square turd in there you repair all around it but never clean it out not saying do it for free but just maybe the are cheap enough to do it themselves saving you time and trouble?
@wendelfears1027Күн бұрын
Why? Open a unit. See more dust and dirt then in their front yard. And with a dirty filter. The out going side the coils look fairly clean. But never show us the inlet side of the coils. Why? Scared of going out in the cold to wash they off? You could have at least brushed them off
