Outstanding presentation. I am going for my EPA test. I'm a little intimidated as I am 73, but I worked in the field for many years aboard US Navy and Coast Guard. 197 to 1992 but never needed the EPA. I am working again due to inflation and want to repair the systems at the complex where I am a maintenance tech. Really great video. Maybe, the best I have seen in the last few months. Thank you so much

I'm here to thank HVAC School for all they have done for my college and for me as well. I'm a student at a community college and my father is the one who brought me into the world of HVAC. But at my college, I noticed that there's a lot of young guys who needed a second chance. And here it is, we are all now Epa certified, and I will continue my education for my associates. But for a lot of my friends this was their last class it was very emotional and also beautiful to see the amazing work me and my professor had done to teach these guys everything HVAC in 4 weeks, with the help of HVAC School. I couldn't thank you all enough for the information gained from your content. Thanks. - Dante Collins, Houston Community College, Work Force Education 2024-2025

I think I got it memorized. Someone correct me if I'm wrong: Vapor goes into the compressor, which is a pressure increaser, and changes state from vapor to a hot gas. The hot gas goes through the discharge line into the condenser, which is a heat rejector, and changes state from a hot gas to a hot liquid. Then the hot liquid goes through the liquid line into the metering device, which is a pressure reducer. The hot liquid then goes into the expansion line where it begins to boil into the evaporator, which is a heat absorber. The cooled liquid then goes through the suction line where it changes state from liquid to vapor. Correct?
@bbseal61742 жыл бұрын
not quite. When it goes through the compressor, it does increase in pressure and temperature, but it doesn't change state. It remains a vapor (or a gas, same thing). Out of the condenser it changes state from a hot gas to a hot liquid, yes. this is correct. Remember that by the time it has left the condenser it should be subcooled, even though it is relatively hot. The metering device decreases the pressure, and by doing this the temperature also drops. So it is (relatively) cool liquid. It goes into the evaporator wherein it boils and becomes a cool vapor.

can you use an ozone generator and bleed the cfc and hcfc gases through an ozone field to gice the gas something to destroy so the ozone destroying properties would be consumed? my theory would be to use an ozone generating say uvc disinfecting lamp and bleed the gas into a box containing the lamp so the reaction would cancel each other out thereby you can vent the gas. it is kind of like if you ever dropped a car battery and the acid spilled out you may drop some baking soda and water to neutralize the acid so you. can clean up the acid mess. same idea here can ozone generator be used to neutralize the cfc to allow venting?
@jonathanedelson67332 жыл бұрын
Sort of, but not to any practical benefit. CFCs and HCFCs are very very stable and not water soluble. When they get to the stratosphere UV breaks them down and releases the Chlorine where it can catalyze the destruction of O3. So you wouldn't need to generate O3, you'd simply use the UV light to break down the CFCs. But think about what you would need: some machine to capture the refrigerant and expose it to strong UV for a sufficient period of time. You couldn't simply set up a UV light by the leak. You would neet to react _all_ of the refrigerant, and that means a very strong light that couldn't be in open air. You'd also want to exclude all of the air (or let in controlled amounts). So you need a machine to capture the refrigerant, put it into a tank with the UV source, and _then_ you would need to dispose of the resulting gunk. So you might as well just capture the refrigerant into a tank and put it to use. Jon
