Nice set-up my man... Was that a custom job on the flip tab charging handle bac? I didn't notice any options at any of the relative shop sites, Mat.Arms and other Mat.Arms retailers.. I'm runnin' the SI brace also.. Had it for probably over half a year, eyeing PSA's JAKL, but my 1st AR9/ARP build ended up jumping to the front of the line after seeing everything the Mat-9 was capable of working with...And an amazing sale/rate on OpticsPlanet... Along with a standard AP M4E1 lower, MeanArms' Magpul conversion kit, 10/30 Magpul, (NYS, but an awesome and huge 2A Thanks to both Magpul & MeanArms for how they make their.. Modular... prodructs.. 😉 SI forward handstop, Hogue Grip, and SI Muzzle break with Blast forwarding/shield (NYS, we try to have as much fun as we can... Without getting caught... Lol.. CNY/Upstate compliancy is a request, not a requirement. We'll give them their opinions when we need their input... Stay free.. Sounds like a great build you have there. The side handle upgrade is from HB Industries. It’s 2 parts, the side folding handle and detent block.

HB Industries make its and its listed under BRN-9. It’s 2 separate pieces, handle and locking block.

Scorp Mags stripped lowers are now becoming the unicorn of the AR9 world.. Just dumbfounded why not a lot are making a receiver for it. It's the best looking one and the scorp mags are less expensive than a HK MP5 ones. =/

Yeah it’s a shame. These sat on the shelf with no interest for a few years. Then the ATF instated the brace rule which delayed sales to the point that our machinist discontinued the design. When the brace rule was overturned and the MAT9 upper was released, this triggered a major sellout. Hopefully we will have a gen2 available by the end of the year.

@@highvoltagecustom tell him to build it faster! :D Anyway, just focus on compatibility with the PSA Scorp Mags, those are rock solid.. I have a PSA AR-V, I love it and planning on getting an AK-V within this year. I want another AR9 that is not branded PSA.. For the life of me I can't find any stripped lower receiver sellers that are selling it for a reasonable price. =/

Answer is two-fold. First geometry. They are tempremental to get feeding right and hard to get them to fees with Hollow points. Second is the upper. The mag sits high enough it goes into the upper. The standard ar upper is not wide enough. Needs a few thousandths trimmed on the inside to fit. So companies don't want to deal with a million phone calls about why xyz upper doesn't work.

@@captainbarred I wouldn't even pretend I know what you are talking about I am not a machinist. Anyhow, I have a self build PSA-ARV. It gobbles 147gr HPs like it's nothing. It's actually my preferred choice for home defense among all the pew pews I have. What worked for my build was following Blowback 9's suggestion to use a barrel with a modern feed cone. The ARV lower has a feed ramp which marries perfectly to my Mas Defense Barrel's feed cone. The only jam I get was from using the ETS CZ mags, which are known to be crap.

@Lost-Orbz that's awesome! There are a ton out there running great, however it's still a roll of the dice. If you search for reviews, you'll see a lot of people with problems. Now, that doesn't mean it's not simply a vocal minority, but I'm not seeing many good reviews. I've been wanting one for years, but don't really want to take the risk.... I have a montego/brn bufferless upper now though, so I'm very temped to roll the dice.... your post gives me hope.

Yes you can. Buffer/spring assembly is built into the MAT9 upper.
