I transcribed the interview for a friend who found it hard to understand everything. Thank you Arvid for this video and thank you Bill for sharing about Andraé!

Bill: "It is hard to describe Andraé Crouch in just a few words. He was extremely gifted beyond his own mind; it was gifts that would happen to him when he was asleep. He would hear a song wake up in the morning, he would play it and he would put words and melody to it and it was finished. It would come to him at all hours. Extremely gifted, extremely funny, extremely unorganized, extremely kind, extremely loving to people but also a handful. Couldn't get him out of bed always late hard to get to the concert on time hard to get on the bus he just stopped and met people and talked to everybody he met, but he is a beautiful beautiful person one of the kindest people I've ever known in my life I loved Andraé Crouch. Once he got on stage it was like a lightbulb that lit up inside him and he could look up at the people and he could see what they needed, he could feel what song they should do. Whatever setlist you had whatever you planned it was going out the window he was gonna change it every concert was different from the other one and he truly cared about the people. He had a plan but it always changed. I've been in every situation with him from playing in prisons to hut in them small islands with no electricity to playing at Carnegie Hall at the biggest concert stages the Royal Albert Hall all over the world but he had that same thing where he could reach out and touch each person individually and that was a gift that had nothing to do with him that was the Holy Spirit. Arvid: "So what's the problem with too much planning in worship? Bill: "My problem is that sometimes you don't give the Holy Spirit time to move. You have a plan and that's what we're gonna do. You need to be flexible. You don't know who's gonna walk into that door and you don't know what they need. Andraé was a terrific writer and he always wrote according to the Bible. His dad said if you can't prove a song by scripture don't put it out and that was Andraé.” Arvid: "So what a blessing to be able to work with him and what a blessing for me to be able to interview you today." Bill: "Thank you Arvid!"
