Elina knew, so did the conductor. His passing is a huge loss, but Dmitri has left so much of himself behind to remind us of his talent & personality, which will live on . R.I.P Great man.

For those, who may not be aware - the historical value of this performance is, that this is the last concert, where Dmitriy's signing has not been yet touched by the incurable desease. But the diagnosis is already known to everyone, and this event is like a farewell to life, to his nearest and dearest, and to the audience. A special touch of the performance is the last song with very strong and heartbreaking words - a farewell to all and everything, that he must leave..... You may notice the tears in Elina's eyes and the crying audience. Everyone knows - the tragic end is very near. This is a very special recording for those, who enjoy Dmitry's talent.

I adore each of these singers, and I still mourn for Dimitri, who was taken from us far too soon. As for Ms. Garanca, she is one of the best mezzo-sopranos of our time. There is such deep human feelings generated in this video, the result of a long evolution of civilized people seeing the benefits of singing together. When you think that the basic component of any nation is a man and a woman seeing the benefits of harmonising their natural tendencies depicted so well in this video through a man and a woman waltzing and singing a life of close harmony which the audience enjoy and that should be imitated in all nations. There is more than singing in this performance, but the existence of civilized humanity itself. Well done, Hvorostovsky and Garanca and all the rest on that stage.
