I hold a black belt in Tang Soo Do MooDuk Kwon and I can honestly say I learned something new in this video. Grandmaster Lee truly cares and takes the time not just to break down and explain a technique he imparts encouragement and genuinely cares for his students and promoting the art of Hwa Rang Do, I commend you sir for also imparting good values and inspiring your students, it’s a shame the are no Hwa RangDo dojangs in my area, I wouldn’t mind switching and training under you.

Agreed… 100% To the students: if you signed up there just because you happened to be wandering by, you’ve struck gold. If you want to become proficient at a practical martial art, stay with this man, learn from him, take what he says to heart. I’ve seen some shady mcdojos in my day: academies where the “grand master” can’t even perform the moves they’re teaching, even some very well reputed schools who only focus on forms… and their black belts can’t fight worth sh!t. Teachers like this are far and few in between. Keep training for the fight of your life… a fight you hope will never come.

Thank you for sharing Grandmaster's wisdom with us. I was fortunate enough to study Hwa Rang Do when I was young and growing up in Arcata, CA. I was even more fortunate in being given the opportunity to attend an international tournament or exposition (I don't remember what the event was called) in southern California. During the trip to LA or Orange County or wherever the tournament was taking place (this was at least 25 years ago, probably closer to 30. I've not cared for my memory as I should so the details are foggy.), I was even more blessed and fortunate to be able to attend classes instructed by Do Joo Nim three days in a row. I do not remember the circumstances that allowed me such a gift, but I was the only one from my school in Arcata who was given this opportunity. I was a very shy child and some of the other students gave me dirty looks like I wasn't welcome. I was a green belt by this time and the lowest belted student in the room, everyone else in the class was brown or above. I did my best to follow along but it was clear that I was out of my depth. It was a very intimidating experience at first, being the outsider in this sacred place. That all evaporated in an instant when Supreme Grandmaster Dr. Joo Bang Lee looked me in the eye and smiled, asked my name and had the other students make way enough that I could line up with them; I just immediately felt my unease and intimidation evaporate and I felt safe and that I was where I was supposed to be, I was overcome with a sense of love and peace and authority and respect. This took place in the moments after walking in the door, that I went from feeling like an unwanted fish out of water to feeling and knowing that I was welcome and loved and in the right place. I was still out of my depth and had to really push myself to keep up. I remember that there was another man who was assisting, but I did not know at the time who this great man was. He had long black hair and an aura of quiet intensity and strength and an overall immensity of presence. I don't think he said anything to me while I was there, but he looked at me once with such a piercing, inquisitive focus that I could only look away and wonder what I had done wrong. At the end of class I was exhausted and was judging and criticizing myself and comparing myself against the other students; I was embarrassed and felt that maybe the other students were right, maybe I shouldn't have been there, maybe I didn't deserve this gift. But the last part of each class was the students would line up and one by one, Supreme Grandmaster would give each student a big hug and say something to each student that was his specific observation or advice or acknowledgment relating to that student and how they did in class that day. This was not something that was done by my Hwa Rang Do teacher in Arcata so it kind of caught me by surprise. I was the last one in line each time, and for the life of me I don't remember what Supreme Grandmaster told me, but when he hugged me I felt such love and care and compassion and kindness that all my worries, about inadequacy and feeling like the worst student, it all vanished and I just felt whole. It was just a very brief moment in time in the beginning, formative years of my life but they are some of my most cherished memories from my youth. I am so thankful for Hwa Rang Do and for being the foundation of wellbeing that I build upon to this day.

It's good to Practice beginning level learning Basics 😌 And I like the fact that the very simplest of kick forms done correctly and confidential over and over brings. second nature Reactions and these are sometimes the ones that save a student in a street Incedent. After All the art of Hwa Rang do is enjoyable or The way of life. But The most rewarding experience is in a situation that is handled with successful in the protection of yourself and Loved ones around you, because the civilization War is outside your door. Thx TO grand master for Technique Review .I always remember that mind, body and ( spirit)belong to God and his Son. 👋

hello Master, with all respect i have to tell you that you are absolutelly right, at least in my own experience as a Tae kwon do student i have seen that many martial arts schools in Mexico suck, and as you mention is fault of teachers, in Mexico TKD is just a dirty business, but it´s not only fault of teachers, parents come to schools and always ask the same question: how many years take to earn a black belt?, the problem starts there. Also students just earn belts after belts and don´t even train like if they meant, they can´t even fight against other martial arts, they are not match for a people trained in fighting like box or mma, I dare to say that they even can´t fight against a non trained opponent. Back in a days i was meaning to open a doyang and train people with the same goals like you, efficiency and passion for training but sadly I am dissapointed with my own school because it became like the rest. I gave up that dream, now I am decided to learn the more I can and teach only to people with the same passion as you for the martial arts without money involved to avoid the greed like the other teachers. Thank you for your teachings and for share your knowledge. Greetings from Mexico.

No one is going to teach you how to use your legs better than Kuksanim. Attention to detail! But, your legs should only be used under moral principles and the correct philosophy...okay? That is also taught by Kuksanim, very well by the way. Hwa Rang Do forever, serving God.

This is Hwa Rang Do. Hwa Rang Do stands as the authentic Korean Martial and Healing art with its origins tracing back to the venerable Hwarang Warriors of Silla in ancient times. This enduring tradition was revitalized as a contemporary martial art by the esteemed Founder, Supreme Grandmaster Dr. Joo Bang Lee, the 58th successor to the hallowed Hwarang legacy. In recognition of its cultural significance, Hwa Rang Do was officially registered in South Korea in the year 1960. Hwa Rang Do is a highly comprehensive complete martial art system that incorporates a wide range of techniques, including both soft and circular movements as well as hard and linear ones. We address all ranges of fighting standup distance, in-close joint manipulation, throws, and takedowns; then on the ground grappling. It is the original Korean martial art before jiujitsu, judo, or aikido. Hwa Rang Do encompasses a diverse array of pugilistic methods, and what you're observing in the video represents just one aspect of this rich discipline. The techniques and methods employed in Hwa Rang Do can vary significantly depending on the specific circumstances and situations encountered. In essence, Hwa Rang Do is a multifaceted martial art that offers a comprehensive approach to combat, self-defense, and a way of life. If you're interested in learning more about Hwa Rang Do, we invite you to explore additional videos on this channel and visit our website at www.hwarangdo.com for further information
