Vivo Per Lei - Rhydian & Hayley Westenra

Andrea Bocelli's "Vivo Per Lei" performed by Rhydian and Hayley Westenra on Rhydian's new TV series on Welsh channel S4C. Broadcast on 9 November 2011.
This is the English-Italian version first performed by Hayley and Andrea Bocelli on "Gotta Skate V" in Canada in 2005. We think it is the first time Hayley has sung it on broadcast TV since that wonderful duet with Andrea Bocelli to the Ice skating of Jamie Salé & David Pelletier.

Congratulations to the both singers, they had honored ITALIAN music with deep professional skills and good passion, Rhydian don't have Bocelli's voice and power sing, but is very good pro-singer. Hayley is AMAZING FEMALE VOICE, the most beatiful and bright voice actually in the world, I suppose. Many thaks from Italy. I love this perform.

There were 2 takes of the song recorded live so they may have cut bits together from the two takes, hence the slight ack of continuity. The whole thing was fantastic live I can assure you...couldn't wait to see it again. Rhydian did a great job considering he was recovering from a vocal bleed he had only a couple of weeks before.

This English/Italian version was originally recorded by Boccelli in a duet with welsh sensation Bonnie Tyler. It was back in 1997. He had just been coming off his massive hit with Sarah Brightman. The duet with Bonnie was supposed to appear on her 1998 album ALL IN ONE VOICE. Unfortunately, due to disagreements between record companies, it was never released. Quite a shame, to be honest. There is a snippet of the song that is available on KZbin if someone is interested in it. The quality is not great, but I think it sounded very good.

@hwivid I was there and there were two takes. Rhydian was not well, he had a vocal bleed and I think it shows. These two are great together - I hope they reprise this now he's back on form. Despite that I enjoyed this performance immensely.

@Simbaleo22 Yes it' was recorded 'live' but there may have been a re-take (who knows why) and the two bits put together on the broadcast in a way that, shall we say, leaves something to be desired? I didn't notice though until it was pointed out!

It's beautiful, but something confuses me at 1.43-1.45. First Hayley holds the microphone at her mouth, the next moment she's holding it further down - while she's still singing! Perhaps this isn't a live performance? Or there might be some other reason why they chose to put the clips together like that, I don't know... Anyhow, they sound beautiful together, although Rhydian looks a bit tired. Perhaps he was ill at the time?

It's definitely live, there hasn't been any studio performance of this before, and it certainly does sound like a live performance, but good observation, but even with the mic down I think she's still singing? Or wait, the second before that she's still having the mic close to her mouth, so I think it's with the editing of the clips XD

Hayley shows plenty of emotion but, vocally, I don't think her performance was particularly good. I'm a huge fan of Hayley, so I'm quite disappointed by this. Her high notes sounded yelled and sometimes even flat. I don't like her pop-style singing. This is the best performance I've seen from Rhydian, though. His singing was outstanding. Not as emotional as Hayley, but it wasn't wooden, either.
