It´s a psychological thing - the positioning affects some player´s mind. Good position creates pressure, which leads into failures. Bad position make them calm, because they have nothing to lose. I´ve got affected by this to a terrifying degree - i have to either play races without HUD, or not play races at all.

Hardest one was when he botched it on the way to Chilliad on the train tracks bridge and fell into the river. Still, unable to learn from his mistakes, not paying attention when he should. I´m sometimes wondering, if he´s doing it on purpose...

This was my second Derfg, which is a drastic change from my first Derfg months ago. Went from not even reaching Chiliad on my maiden voyage, to finishing. I also did not see any trains because they were all following Broughy and his mini Phantom Wedge variant, the 9F Wedgie. All in all a great race on the day.

with teleport checkpoints it might be possible, split start grid with a wall, 2 teleports to the starting islands, then the 2 alternate routes, then teleports at the end to the finish. gta won"t like the checkpoints placed inside each other though, so it"ll be slightly off from where it normally is

I have absolutely no idea of the checkpoint system in the game. But for different times you could measure it out like inthe car v car races. Looking at the spreadsheets you can go for an estimate winning time on DERFG and one on GFRED, faster group starts later. I think that would he doable. If it's too complicated, I get you don't wanna do the work for just one race, but I'd really like to see it

I'm curious whether there has been any experiments with the derfg route, particularly after Chilliad. Is there nowhere between the Quarry and El Gordo to reliably get up the mountain and parachute to the island? Could it be potentially quicker to go down the far side of Chilliad and follow the highway to the airport, like the start of a gfred?

are u talking about Chiliad to Airport, or Quarry to Lighthouse to Island? cuz the Lighthouse checkpoint renders parachute lines kinda pointless since you still need to swim to the Island

GFRED SUMMARY SERIES Gfred #210: DerfG - An Escalade of Wrong Decisions . . . . SPOILER ALERT After a rally race, Broughy immediately started the Fred race, which is this time being the DerfG. However, he took a Buzzard for the parachute and took the opportunity to blow up poor XDW in the Dozer. Darogen said “Do you still want to read what Fachuro said about the name?” Mozzarella donated a Dad Joke, “What do you call a row of people lifting mozzarella?........ A cheesey pick up line” Broughy then read a very long explanation of Multilinearity that I can’t type in. Then we get the usual Rule explanation. Verdilith said “GFRED shirt is on and I'm ready” Pseudo said “How does the DerfG drinking game work? Do we have to spit our drink out if he dies?” But yes, there’s a lot of things done in this stream. Broughy seems a bit forgetful if there’s a specific rule with cars in DerfG. Eleven Ears thinks it’s the Lighthouse Checkpoint that may be forgotten. Then Broughy realized that he never needed a parachute here to begin with. Broughy then got a boosted start, which doesn’t matter since he only cycles for a short distance before diving flawlessly. Broughy realized just how long since he’d done a DerfG, but there’s no need to use a Parachute despite Itz’s question. Broughy thinks it only goes downhill from here however. Broughy struggles to get through the shallow waters in the end, and it lost him the initial lead. And he’s out way too far to the right too. Then the game gives the prompt WRONG WAY just to add insult. Now on the freeway he only sees a Fieldmaster, then stupidly ignores a Radius for the much slower Cavalcade. Of course, Morgan Clark steals it from him. Broughy became a passenger before dumped in the middle of the bridge with nothing around it. Not to mention, he spotted Nova Cain getting a 9F. And then he ignores multiple Grangers, for another Cavalcade (which is still slower by the way). Did he love this car so much?! But luckily, he found a Futo right behind him. His failure to get out from Morgan early ruined the start so he decided to backtrack far across the bridge to chase down a 9F. He saw Judas got flipped out in an attempt to stop it, but it gets Broughy the car at least. If he starts so far back, then at least he’d do it in a 9F. It’s usually not worth it, but it does this time. Plus, everyone has a 9F so he has to get one. He’s so far back in 15th though. RCD tried to shun in on Zancudo. He saw some military cars on hot pursuit before overtaking Morgan taking advantage of the pace difference uphill. He’s now 10th at the Observatory. Start of a recovery and a minute behind the leader. And he almost fell off Arthur’s Trail. Then he spotted multiple people launching the wrong way off Harmony like Caida Libre. He’s now 6th. But to be fair, it’s been so long that a lot of people already forgot how DerfG works. Meanwhile, Chiliad is the only thing exactly the same in DerfG. He’s in 5th before the Safety Train shows up to ruin the advantage. But he managed to outran it before the Raton Canyon Bridge. He saw someone struggling in Chiliad. He easily overtook Mopar in an admittedly outmatched Radius. He thinks he’s safe before he hit a rock and fell down, jinxing himself again. Definitely a Chiliad Disaster material. At least this 9F have the power to come back up again, it could be a lot of worse but the chance of Comeback is ruined. Now he’s in 11th. He saw Verdilith on a cycle almost got killed. But the Top Five is always possible. Top Two is definitely not though, if only he didn’t botch it. Third is the Stretch Goal. There’s no train blocking the bridge nor Hail Mary as a Last Resort. No Choke Point in the end, so it’s all dashing for the rest. He goes under Nova who gone upside down on the bridge before dueling Vinible’s Radius. Andreas said “He says sorry in the chat” But yet another train show up at the Stab City Bridge again. CWilson said “There’s the Airport Jump at least” At least 4th is on the horizon. He saw a Minivan takes out Verdilith’s Mesa before a Sultan also took him out. There’s definitely a few less Fs in this car now. More like 5F. He overtook Mopar who switched to an Exemplar late, now he’s back to where he wa before the Chiliad Disaster. He makes yet another mess by entering the highway by the wrong side of the wall. He made several amateur mistakes today. Then he crashed into another traffic of Felon and Cavalcade. He saw both Oof Serena and Demons Run died at the Airport, sending them back to Chiliad. He then hit several signs in South Central. The 9F hates the bumps anymore, and now the Airport Jump could go badly. 3rd seems to go through the Parkade, and Broughy overcut him to the top. And he lands on the Upper Terminal with style as well… before falling of the edge. At least the racers are more spread out right now. Now he battles Mayo Epic for the Podium. Then he crashed into Mayo who stumbled into traffic, now he’s pulling harshly to the left. This car is now a 3F in the Battle of Broken 9Fs. This 9F has been absolutely trashed though this is the first 9F in a while. He always did what he did to the poor car. He’s slowly catching up to Abot in 2nd though. He got a very harsh landing into the Quarry. 4th to 7th is now arriving as Broughy barely beat the train. That was a close one. Adraki and Abot finished at the Top Two, but considering the horrible start, but he can’t say anything lest to jinx himself again. It’s an absolute result though, with a bloody battle and he didn’t forget about the Lighthouse and left his 3F nicely at the pier. Niklas told him to take the Jet Ski, which is not allowed. Still, this 3rd Position is hard fought, a fight well deserved. Considering the Start and Chiliad, it wasn’t too bad. Ever since the win on PS4, he still has 5 podiums on every Gfreds, Top 5 including the FiveM ones. This is a good season so far, thanks to the Off-Season. And yes, lots of train in this one. Abot said “Well, If I didn't get hit off the bridge by a train and turned into a banana 1st and 2nd would have been much closer” Verdilith donated “I took first at the Observatory but flipped going to Chiliad. Got the checkpoint at Chiliad then died on the way down.” Fachuro said “You should do a GfrederfG next - if you win that you'll have a 132231 (backwards and forwards 1322)” Xavier did a good Gfred Spirit moving from Radius to Banshee to the Airport. Broughy disagrees with Fachuro “it has to be GrederfG since that’s backwards and forwards too - it’s the only way it will work” for adding unnecessary difficulty. Mok subscribed “Dad joke: What should you do if you're attacked by a gang of clowns? Go for the juggler” Meanwhile, Mopar got 4th. Verdilith and RCD claimed 7th and 8th. Judas got 9th, and Nova got 11th.
