@@NatureXwars Even if Broughy himself objectively didn't get to utilize it, other people could have/might have, which changes everything that happens after each such instance for absolutely everyone in the race. ex., What if no one was in a position to crash into broughy on the way back from the airport (As it happened), or down chilliad (Also as it happened), just because of the usage of slipstream by someone somewhere? Such possibilities is why rules exist to only count completely vanilla gfred records, and it's fully impossible, nevermind unfair, to make any assumptions for the positive, if you're not willing to allow the possibility of the negative. And as I understand, they confirmed it was enabled - therefore fact is, it affected the race as a whole, making it not a vanilla record.

As much as I want to give broughy the benefit of doubt for an amazing race and not ruining the 9f, record can’t count, even with an asterisk because even though he didn’t gain an advantage from slipstream, other people were and it changes the outcome of the race.

Exactly. That group of cars that cleared the bridge on the way back from Chilliad could have been two seconds back and that could have changed everything. There's just no way to know how the race would have played in record conditions, it wouldn't be fair to record-holders to flaunt the rules, and it'd frankly make records meaningless. It's still a great win and a stellar performance, and nothing's gonna change that.

Race mode Brough is a different breed, maybe half a small mistake over the course of 5 minutes of a notoriously brutal race. Sometimes its easy to forget just how much skill he has in this.

Just because he didn't use it doesn't mean other people, for example in front of him to the airport, didn't. There's a reason why such rules are put in place, because every tiny bit CAN have an impact on the overall race, and it's not fair to speculate how big such effect would or wouldn't be. If even one of the guys ahead of him had some use made of it, it changes everything that happens after it compared to what would've happened without it. Maybe without slipstream Broughy would've crashed into someone at a different place on the track where there wasn't a chance to due to slipstream. The fact that it's a possibility is enough to overrule any claims for it being a legitimate record. Those are the rules.

Think about that time you set > Catch-up was on (you think), you stopped to change car somewhat down the highway, you spun out on a bush a couple of times, and you took the safe line to secure 1st place! You could've easily got what 17 minutes 30 seconds easily

In my opinion it counts, becouse there was no slip usage no catchup on, so the game mechnichs and the whole game enviroment are the same as normal GFRED for Broughy(thus for the record).
