don't underestimate the power of the rocket cutting down the shorter distance of the infield significantly, its strength is boosting to top speed instantly, not the top speed itself

If you really think about it, top speed is actually irrelevant. It's all about what cars get closer to their respective top speed the quickest (aka acceleration) bc that significantly increases the value of the shorter distance of the infield over the less acceleration reliant oval To put it another way, a car that could immediately accelerate to like 500 mph regardless of the route should obviously go infield bc of shorter distance. The same can be said of a vehicle that can immediately accelerate to 25 mph.

This gave me an idea for a mini game: Players are in a car park driving Dozers. Zombies are fired out of cannons placed on the map, and have to land in your scoop in the air to score a point. Free for all points of up to ten per round. :) (Zombies are fired out one cannon at a time in random order.)

Issi Classic: 1:31 on the infield (~108 top speed) Vagrant: 1:35 on the oval (~108 top speed) Cart: 1:34 on the infield (91 top speed) All good handling cars... I think infield is probably best for bad top speed + medium-low+ (vans or better) handling // OR the slowest of slow vehicles with no top speed. For the vans: 1:41 for both BUTTT you started out at ~200MPH on the first one. The INFIELD was the correct choice.

Why not just shrink this map a little, its an great map due to the selection of infield outfield and it would maybe scale somewhat decently regarding balance?

The balance of this track is actually surprisingly close given the cars it was intended for. Most of the original testing when this track was made on retail gta was done in the Schlagen GT and other Sports A pace cars. The retail version has a slightly shorter layout and was found that the difference between the 2 sides was about 4 seconds. The 5m version with the longer infield brings that gap down to about a 1 second faster on the infield. The gap on retail works because the track is intended to work with slipstream and especially if you and a buddy can slipstream well its entirely possible to go quicker on the oval than the infield

I think this track could actually be really cool for the random but everyone gets the same cars on the same laps mode (which I want to see a bit more of just in general). Every lap the car would determine the route to choose, and there'd be potential to gain or lose time with a contrarian strategy.

I think everything that has a top speed above 100 is faster around the oval. Vagrant has a smaller top speed then the issi classic but yet their lap times were the same even dough you took the issi on the infield

Hm. From a viewing perspective this was not a good race. the track doesn't really work with a random all (as stated), laps are too long. you don't really get the usual vehicle envy because you never see anyone, this race felt like a 10 player session. the checkpoints being so... weird, is just bad, but I think it's not that easy to memorize which checkpoint has been hit last. and lastly, while the lawnmower is fun to laugh and point fingers at brough, on a track which already spits out as few laps as this, it's only worse. would've loved to see some zombies catch up to the lawnmower tho.
