I do remember taking 17 south a couple of years back. I was on my motorcycle and thought it looked like a better motorcycle route than the interstates.

I'm not sure which one is listed as more dangerous between hwy 70 & hey 17. Both have plenty of motorcycles!!

I drive this highway multiple times a summer to get to Santa Cruz, and I must say, this stretch of road is really nerve wracking for me. Especially on the way out back towards San Jose at night. The roads are very dynamic with dips, inclines, declines, sharp turns, occasional daunting cliff views, aggressive drivers and whatever else. There's not much room for error. I've traveled on some sketchy roads here in California, but this has to be one of those I always feel relieved to get through. Interestingly enough, I just got back from the boardwalk, and without searching this up, it happens to land in my feed. Cool video, but of course, until these people are actually on the road here, they might not fully grasp how dangerous it can be during this stretch. The scenery is beautiful though.

@@LoneTreePeak I remember my mom driving me on this road when we lived in SJ and would frequent Santa Cruz! Then when I was older I lived in Santa Cruz and worked and commuted the 17 to Los Gatos! A white knuckled for sure. If you really want a thrill… head up Black road off 17 all the way to the top and cruise skyline Blvd to Saratoga! 👌💥

@FindingNorcal Sounds like a rough commute for sure! Glad you made it through. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to look into that. I'm a bit weary of cliff drives, but I always enjoy the views, and also being out in nature. Thanks again!

Very surprising at lack of Lights along a vast majority of this cruise! Bet it can be spookily dark at night driving too and with the sharp turns, blind curves and literally no shoulder room....so much can go wrong in nanoseconds. Plus, we all know that the speeds on interstates are always higher than posted! Here in Ohio you can't go more than 5 miles without running into a detour or orange barrels due to road management and repairs. I've always thought that "they bandaid fix" the roads...Job Security! Travel here has been less due to crazy gas pricing...but Summer is going to bring people out....some STILL recouping from Pandemic Cabin Fever! Missing your exit ramp is a No No! Canned Heat's Tune "Going To The Country" is perfect for this video! I know, The Copyright Goons would tell me to Shaddap and Keep The Line Moving! LOLOLOL Enjoyed The ride April....Cheers From 1-70 in Ohio

Ya there's no lights! There used to be a guy named The lone ranger who would drive his pickup truck back and forth on this highway looking for people who were overheated or needed help I think he worked for himself I grew up going to Santa Cruz having lived in San Jose traveling this road alot! ♥️From NorCal Stuport

@@FindingNorcal I drove a 1973 VW Thing up until 1996. No way could that car make it over 17 with any speed. Hwy 9 was always my favorite. That said, I drove that VW all up and down the west coast.
