The creative team that have been guiding New Jeans since debut has done a truly INCREDIBLE job. These girls are getting the absolute best support in terms of concept, songs, choreography, styling and "branding". The "Ditto" sides A & B are two absolutely incredible MVs in terms of the concept and artistry of the MV cinematography and direction. The wistful, melancholic and slightly haunting sound/singing supports perfectly the message of the song. It was truly a stroke of inspiration to make this into two MVs, with both MVs needing to be viewed in order to gain the fuller, more deep meaning. The ending of Side A is so heartbreaking when it dawns upon the viewer the darkness that was obscured by the girl's vicarious joy she experienced through her imaginary friendship with New Jeans. For the second MV, the way I interpreted it, was that the girl finally realizes that it is unhealthy for her to live in an imaginary world in which the New Jeans girls are her imaginary friends, and she makes a painful decision to leave her imaginary world and to live in reality (she destroys the camera, walks with the boy, has relationship problems. etc.). That is also why the deer walks away in the corridor, as she no longer lives in a fantasy world. Then, years later the adult version of the girl returns to her childhood bedroom and reminisces about her past, including the happy memories of her passion for Kpop idols (symbolized by New Jeans). The girl (now a woman) is able to again let New Jeans back into her life in a healthy manner (with the 5 New Jeans girls happily reentering her room), as she is now more grounded and better able mentally to reap the benefits and enjoyment of Kpop without the unhealthy obsession that her less mature self fell into.

there's something so haunting, sombre and bittersweet about this song. throughout the entirety of the music video i was feelings pangs of nostalgia but was slowly choking and tearing up towards the end, and it was really hard to describe this feeling. the directions of cinematography made it feel so light and floaty, as if i was looking at my own childhood memories of school and that's what hit me a bit harder. i don't think it's just about the girl viewing newjeans as her close, 'imaginary' friends, but seeing other groups enjoying themselves, having fun and feeling like shes not able to join them. i relate to this a lot - i got along with everyone in my school but found that i was floating quite a bit between different groups and couldnt really find my people until my final year. all in all, loved this a lot :))

Her name is Hesseo and she starts the mv by watching videos from her highschool years. She is the main character of the story. During the mv she is recording newjeans dance and sing. They have fun together and newjeans even paint her cast. She talks to them about a crush she has on the dude at the water fountain etc etc. Basically they are very close. The plot twist is after the deer scene it is revealed that New jeans were just her imaginary friends and she alone the entire time. Eventually she becomes friends with the dude she had a crush on. Idk if I explained this well. Hope this helps 😊

Side B : In side B it is shown that that girl (Nwjns fan) wasn’t actually with them or having fun with them it was all scenarios that she had created in her head to escape from reality and then in side b reality is shown it’s like how us fans say : “Kpop saved my life, it helped me from depression” when in reality that’s not it idols are still happy without us they’re gonna live just fine reality is still lonely and dark. The MV is very visual centered, but when you look at it from a deeper perspective, it's actually really meaningful and almost sad. The MV shows this 6th person following NewJeans and their activities, they watch them dance, watch them talk to other people, and overall be lively and a great friend, to most of us, our Idols are like imaginary friends we sometimes like to confide in when life gets tough, and the MV shows us that. To everyone else, they see nothing, pure blank, but to us, we see NewJeans, and we hear their songs, and we see their dances, and sometimes we apply these things to our daily life. K-Pop is not just Music, it's a way to connect people, and this is why NewJeans will always be my favorite group, because they understand this. ❤🐇 credits: azealia banks

the director and everyone else behind making and filming this did an impeccable job. this mv is shot like a movie, some of the shots in this are so beautiful even with the melancholic and gloomy mood. the song is great too. this really is a work of art in my opinion and fyi i don’t even really stan newjeans. the main girlgroup i stan is aespa (i love my girls) and i don’t consider myself a newjeans fan at the moment, but i cannot help but to be immensely impressed by how well thought out and excecuted newjeans’s concept is. no one can refute that really. the girls are of course very talented and do a great job singing and dancing as idols should, though i’m just mainly impressed the most by the concept and aesthetic given to them and how original and fresh this all looks and feels. from the getgo with Attention, we knew they would go far and they’re actively proving it. 🫧 go NewJeans 👏🏻👏🏻 say it Ditto update- i’m stanning 🐰
