This is a little showcase and explanation of my new Hybrid Mass Storage System which is a bulk storage solution for industrial districts. It uses a mixture of normal storage and shulker based bulk storage for unparalleled convenience.
The total capacity is almost 22 million items with each slice holding slightly over 700,000 items. At max input rate it would take over 3.5 days of afking to fill a slice and you can always assign multiple slices to a single item type.
The best feature is that it minimizes the number of shulker boxes needed to operate and distributes them in a secure way. This makes it an excellent choice for survival worlds where shulker boxes are scarce and very valuable.
Let me know what you think. Can you improve the design? I feel like there is room for improvement, but after building nearly 50 variations this is the best I could do for now.

Great system, I've been putting dispensers at the base of the shulker storage silos (manually dispensed with a button) to get access to the items with out the shulker mess on the floor you just described.. Mostly went for the simple solution to avoid rebuilding the whole system, but, my next farm needs a system like this! Great job, keep up the awesome content

@@metamilo I've built it for a guardian farm storage.. But, In Hindsight, not the best use of the system.. Cause, too many drops, that need crafting, and being in shulker boxes makes things take a bit longer.. But the system works great, just, not the most optimal for that application. Will definitely build it again at a more appropriate farm

@@mikewatson4729 Yea, guardian farms do require a lot of crafting. What you could do is make a crafting station using shulker boxes and then just have a few loaders between the station and the farm. Just a thought.

I got so excited for this system..... Then you said "QC". Any workaround for Bedrock lovers? I honestly thought more technical minecrafters would be interested in the the moveable hoppers....

Is this system laggy? cuz I see you having a problem with fps

I’ve got something very similar and it’s not laggy at all. FPS spikes were probably due to him recording. They really aren’t bad tho.

It's not laggy at this scale, but if you make anything large enough... I was having fps issues because my hard drive is nearly full.

It would be a little more laggy than some designs just because it has full hoppers pushing into chests, but on a small scale like this that is not a big deal. It would only be a problem if you tried to use this to store every item in the game or something.

@@josep43767 Yea, the nice thing is the hoppers are exposed so if you want to make a system to lock them you can.

what happens if there is an overflow of items? does everything break completely or can it sort itself out when the chests are emptied?

When a slice fills up it will keep processing which means it'll keep filling shulkers and breaking them. This also means that those overflowing shulkers will despawn. It's a problem I plan to address in my next iteration. However, once you empty the storage chests it will keep operating as normal.

Hey, I'm planning on building this system along with V4.1 of the multiple item sorting system. Before I commit to this design, do you plan on releasing a new/revised version of this design? I can't see anything wrong with it myself, but you did mention in the comments that this system doesn't have overflow protection and that some improvements can be made in the lag department and that you'd improve on these points in a future design. Thanks for the awesome creations :)

This is a generally good system, but I've seen several others that are a bit better since posting this. Revisiting this build is on my todo list but it's kinda low priority. I love these systems. you are obviously thinking of what kinds of problems the average minecraft player would run into with the shulker boxes. A note on the editing side: I think it would be a good idea for you to increase your mic volume, as it is very quiet and my speakers can only go so high. I don't know what software you are using but Microsoft Movie Maker allows you to up to double the volume, and there might be a setting on the microphone driver itself. Overall keep up the good redstone!

Thanks for the tip. I usually check volume levels, but I have a headset that gets really loud so it might not be representative of the average youtube viewer. I've got a lot of room for improvement in the editing department. :)
