8:55 Syringe appears fast flash. Bottom right on screen. I enjoyed learning about the different arm sizes used on a quad. Sounds intriguing. Makes sense about the propwash issue. Thank you for the demo and looking forward to seeing the next video update.
@Kabab6 жыл бұрын
The objective approach is appreciated. I don't have the skill to actually test this for racing but give 6" or 5.5" props in the rear a shot with 5" in the fron. May sound crazy at first but the strategy is the same. SX, wide rear, Z or step geometries all attempt to improve the effectiveness of the rear props. The biggest obvious issue will be the annoyances to roll performance....which the code today may account for. The other thing is weight distribution on the quad however that's a more so based on comfort with the setup.
@FlightClubFPV6 жыл бұрын
don't you think putting bigger props in the rear would make the quad react slower? it's much hard for a motor to spin a 6" vs 5" prop. i'll be doing some testing this week and report in part 2 of this video
@Kabab6 жыл бұрын
@@FlightClubFPV yes and no. Maybe the 5" in the front will pull up the slack enough to make it not all that noticeable. I would guess that in long sweeping turns, the 6" in the rear should feel really good and the quad should feel more like a snowboard tracking in a turn. However the roll response may be too weird in general to consider actually using full time.
@richardswangfpv85116 жыл бұрын
some of my tightest flying was a quad with 7'' arms and 7'' props out back with 1900kv and 5'arms and 5'' props out front with 2450kv. the authority was a dream i called it the butterfly configuration

I actually have the mck xbee and the SX vs HX the SX is way more responsive and faster in a Stra8 line and corners which you can definitely see the difference. To me the HX feels like you need more higher rates.
@poulmartinmller40945 жыл бұрын
....when running different props why still run identical motors? in nature you see different setups for speed and for agility. when racing tight courses a rabbit setup seems optimal in my test. I also tested with angeling(?) the motors inward up front and outward at the back to maximize grib. This strain of thought brings different motor sizes on the same quad into play since their roles are now more clearly defined.in freestyle, flying styles like inZane fpv's, should benefit a lot, but that dude's skills need no help what so ever, so these thoughts are for the rest of us :-)

Like I've been telling people for a year now (yup) - it's definitely an improvement, but it's a tiny one and only present in a few moves. Feels a touch more planted in negative AoA moves, by that I mean the back end is a tiny bit more stable so you can focus on pinning it out of Split-S, Powerloop, and Hairpins. It's one of those 2% improvements that add up, and it still comes with a ~10g weight penalty overall, but I feel it's worth it. Good to see Mike feels the same with, with the Neutron-R basically supporting that setup out of the box.

8:55.00 I am trying 2206/2450kv BrotherHobby R4 in front and 2207/2550kv Emax LS on the rear with same kind of props. I havn't try to really compare it to normal all same motors though, lazy to swap the rear motors. I did this coz I want to relieve the rear motor work load. Notice that rear motors are hotter than front motors every flight. However, the quad I build with differ motor results in all 4 motors hotter than I used to. But it has higher ESC output(old quad use 25A and 20A ESC, new differ motors quad use 40A ESC). So I am doubting is the all motors getting hotter is due to the 40A ESC?

I've run two of the Minchan Hybrid frames (MCK and XBAir), I keep coming back to a plain old true X or a stretch though. There is a different feel on the roll axis and I also notice I tend to clip the back arms on gates a little more until I get used to it.
@FlightClubFPV6 жыл бұрын

@xgoodvibesx6 жыл бұрын
Weird, I was actually testing this today! I've got a set of 5" X, 5" SX, and 6" X and for the Proton and I've been trying them out. Favourite so far is 6" true-X with 5" props. Quad feels super stable and under control. The 5SX /6X hybrid I didn't like very much, felt like... understeer? I was having a hard time getting my nose into the corner. I actually preferred the 5SX/5X hybrid, it's more subtle but it has a nice feel to it, like it's carving a little more.

Why did you use 6" true X for the rear rather than 5" true X?
@Plur3076 жыл бұрын
If I had to guess it would be to get the rear props into cleaner air. When I look at blackbox data on a True X the rear motors are usually working a little harder than the front. The rear motors usually have like 5%-10% more throttle applied. By extending them a little farther to the rear this gets them away from the turbulence of the front props.
@FlightClubFPV6 жыл бұрын
yup, I think that's the reason
@Plur3076 жыл бұрын
@@FlightClubFPV I have tried 5" props on 6" frames before and they fly really good. My current favorite quad I own is a custom 6" stretch X frame I built with 5" props. 6" stretch X puts the front and rear motors extra far from each other.
