Awsome! this will save alot of money outer everyones pockets.... 12 months after purchased my car a had the impeller expand causing my car to over heat too so i purchase i new water pump but in the alloy housing near the impeller shaft there's a fracture causing coolant to go into the electronics so i had to return this an get that one replaced but the nice thing is the company i purchase that water pump off gave me that pump back after they made a insurance claim back on it.. postage was $20 an i ended up with a good secondhand water pump with new seals an spare ones too... thats a bonus... ive even placed your ebay one on watch too... just incase.

Hi, great suggestion regarding replacing only rotor! I have been told that in general its good practice to replace water pump (rotor) even if its not failing yet at around 200 000 kilometers. The suggestion is that it normally fails around that period. Is it true in your practice? When you have been fixing these pumps how much of kilometrage / mileage was on these cars you fixed?

I just changed the water pump on my 2013 Prius, no code yet but I noticed a lack of cabin heat and engine temp light on for about 3-5 min at the same time. then the light went off and cabin heat came on. I surmised it was an intermittent pump. I replaced it, easy job- original pump and thermostat. ( I replaced the thermostat while I was there, bit of a pain but I learned a trick or two). I took apart the old pump and sure enough the plastic around the magnet was cracked and just a bit swollen causing a bit of a drag. The pump must not have been able to spin for the first few minutes, causing not cabin heat and the high temp light to come on, then it freed up and worked. Glad I changed it before the code showed up! where do you get the replacement impeller?

The problem with new rotor is the producer is unknown chinese home industry. It also may failed suddenly and give more troubles and lost of money than just plain original Aisin $200 waterpump. $160 more for $3000+ motor worth every peny and it last at least 150k miles anyway.

I agree. This rotorchange will be a fast and cheap fix, but in the end you'll need a new one. Change it before it fails, to save your engine

on my pump the rotor is not expanding, not touching the walls. but it has strong friction on the axle. even with some grease, it will not move freely. It starts, then stops, then pump produces high pitch sound. I applied 12 to the two distant pins, top right pos and bottom left neg

there is a little rubber o ring at the top of the shaft. remove it and the rotor just pulls out. The magnet does offer some resistance so I used a pliers handle to lever it up and out a bit then just pulled it out with my fingers
