Hyderabad is growing rapidly, attracting many new businesses. One such entrepreneur, Ravichandra Reddy, founded his IT company, Gigleaz, in Gachibowli, employing around 1,200 people through HR consultancies and recruitment companies.
On the night of 9th July 2024, eight Gigleaz employees, including a business consultant and two software professionals, forcibly entered Reddy's house. They assaulted Reddy and his mother before kidnapping him. The group also stole 84 laptops, four cars, five mobile phones, and three passports from Reddy's house. Before leaving, they threatened Reddy's mother, warning her not to report the incident.
Terrified, Reddy’s mother waited a day before finally filing a complaint with the Hyderabad police on 11th July 2024. The police began investigating, checking the backgrounds of all employees and examining Gigleaz's financial status.
Meanwhile, former Gigleaz employees filed complaints against Reddy, accusing him of cheating them by not paying their salaries. They claimed they had paid ₹2-3 lakhs to recruitment companies to get their jobs at Gigleaz and were fired without any valid reason or payment of outstanding salaries.
By 15th July 2024, the Hyderabad Police tracked Reddy to the Sunrise Hotel on the Srisailam highway and rescued him. They arrested all eight suspects, charging them with house trespass, wrongful restraint, abduction, confinement for extortion, intimidation, and theft. Along with the stolen items, the police seized 13 other mobile phones, two cars, and a motorcycle belonging to the culprits.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, P Venkatagiri, revealed that Reddy hadn't paid salaries to all 1,200 employees due to financial difficulties. This angered the employees, who then demanded fee refunds from their respective recruitment companies, leading to further tensions.
This incident highlights the severe consequences of financial disputes and the importance of timely salary payments to employees.
