There is no fish in the world named Pamplet. Because we have a habit of screwing up names, Pomfret has become Pamplet in Hyderabad. The 80 rupee kilo fish that was shown is basically a fish named ‘Tilapia’ and this is one of the worst fishes in the world and it is the source of many diseases including Cancer. This is the same fish that is cooked in cheap restaurants and Marriage parties (fish platter). The other white fish that was shown is called ‘Pomfret’ and that is a good fish. Pomfret can be found in both White and Black.

Bittu has given all wrong information, The prawns are not from the sea, those are farm prawns. Sea prawns will be red in colour, also the pink fish is pink perch not pandugoppa.

Of course, it excludes anything harmful, such as poisonous fish and plants of those that cause an allergic reaction - avoiding harm always trumps food permissibility.
