This animation video is about the types of grade line usually used in fluid mechanics. You should have better understanding of what pitot tube and pizometer is .
Animation video I recommended to watch first:
What is pitot tube? :-
• What is pitot tube? 3D...
Visualizing Bernoulli's principle in terms of height :- • Visualizing Bernoulli'...
Enjoy learning ^^.

The mechanical energy loss due to frictional effects (conversion to thermal energy) causes the EGL and HGL to slope downward in the direction of flow. The slope is a measure of the head loss in the pipe. A component, such as a valve, that generates significant frictional effects causes a sudden drop in both EGL and HGL at that location.

At 1:30 it looks wrong, at least in general. How is z+p/(rho*g) increasing downstream? Since v^2/2g is constant (pipe diameter is constant), that would mean you gain Energy. It has to be wrong!

Yeah, hgl and egl should be horizontal (no loss considered)

2:14 If the diameter of the pipe is constant, why the velocity head change and the pressure head stay constant? Shouldn´t the velocity head be kept constant and the pressure head decrease?

elevation has increased so the potential energy increased. These increases Hydraulic grade line. Also that diagram is not totally correct . Don't focus too much on it. Focus the diagram of 3:02

@@NiLTime I guess that he is correct HGL should decrease, Elevation head doesn't matter. Because, the difference between TEL and HGL is velocity head not elevation head. But maybe you did that for Demonstration purpose. Anyway thank you it's a great video.

@alipacheco8149, you are right. Everything from 1:30 onward is wrong. Velocity is constant in time and space so HGL can only decrease in the downstream direction!!!

In minute 1.06 if the pipe different elevation (z2 > z1), and pipe diameter is constant (d1 = d2) why pressure head 1 and 2 same?. And velocity head different?, if d1 = d2 the v1 = v2, so velocity head must be constant.

that diagram is not totally correct . Made it for some visualization purpose .. sorry for that. Don't focus too much on it. Focus the diagram of 3:02 ^^

It's not the same, the pressure head is different between 1,2, and 3, the velocity head is the same in all points as the diameter is constant
