Hey bud I know this is way old but thanks to you my kid built some crazy shit with hydraulics I mean some crazy crushing robot shit & at 10 years old I I taught her how to TIG weld and for my auto shop she made me one hell of a car hoist lol ya I did all the finishing welds to be safe but she did it all her self & she told me it was you that helped her understand it way betrer so thanks I'm a proud dad she's only 10 I'm in trouble as she gets older lol stuff that I could not figure out but thanks to your video she did some amazing stuff so I just wanted to say thank you whether you see this or not I don't know but thanks a lot you know I owe you your way better than the library especially the way you explained it she understood it fully compared to some of the books that she was reading & you know just to make it clear yes you could have went in school but she's only 10 years old so thanks

So its the normal force-per-area that decides how much force something pushes on something else. The heavy block decides how much pressure it will make on the water be matter the size of the area/diameter. That weight can be used to create low pressure on big areas/volume or high pressure if its a small areavolume.. The weight and the water is the same as the matter in m = V/pressure. You need to count how much liquids there is in the cylinder before you can count the pressure right?

IF you took off the rod on the left cylinder (that was being used as an amplifer).. then you would have the same lift distance and amount of oil transfering to the right cylinder with the load

Amazing explanation. I want to synchronize 2 hydraulic cylinders, same speeds and same positions. The master cylinder has 2.5" Bore size and 1.5" Rod diameter. I calculated the resulting area of the master cylider. Bore area - Rod area = 2.5x2.5x3.14/4 - 1.5x1.5x3.14/4 = 4x3.14/4 = 3.14in2 The slave cylinder area then should be 3.14in2 DxDx3.14/4 = 3.14 --------- Then square DxD = 4 ------------- D = 2in where D is the slave cylinder diameter. are my calculations correct? Also I want to know if you have previously syncronyzed cylinders, how precise could be. Do you think I can improve the error we already have of using a flow divider at 50%? Regards;

Hello Aaron, we have a flow divider 50 and 50 but it does not acurately divides the flow. One of the cylinders moves faster than the other. (could be the 10% of tolerance accuracy? I asked for some help and the engineer I asked told me that gear flow divider is more accurate than the spool flow divider. What is the more accurate method?

you need a fluid slitter, It work by 1 input 2 outputs like 1,gal in 2, 1/2 gal out. you can look it up "hydraulic fluid divider" or "adjustable hydraulic fluid divider" with google or any search

I deal in water at lower pressures. It seems to me that you are ignoring friction loss and elevation change in the line(s) between the cylinders. Is this because they are very small compared other pressures ? In any case great videos, very informative

You are correct. In hydraulics we are usually dealing with 1500 psi and the elevation change is pretty minimal. since it may only affect 5 psi when in a mobile application. Friction loss is is also small through the hydraulic lines and fittings since we design for laminar flow and may only get 30-50 psi drop in the system. However, we are always worried about heat generation in the oil most of which is caused by inefficiency of our pumps and motors but a portion is caused by friction loss in the lines.

Actualy is one slight mistake. Real lifting weight must be under 3400 pounds because at 3400 pounds we have the same pushing strenght in both dorecton so result becomes 0 lifting. Actualy a good lift from that schematic would be at about 3000 pounds of weight.

F=PxA. Algebra calls for dividing both sides of the equasion by F, leaving PxA/F/ The F cancles out if divided into F on the left side of the equasion. This IF Algebra causes a fight to break out with the Electricians since 1900. Coverting to business math does not help.
