I've been busy. Unfortunately I have to work for a living. But I'm back again and up to my ears in the top cover from the 165. It's cleaned, painted and is ready for re-assembly so I'm putting the cross shaft and lift arms back in, breathing heavily and shaking my camera around like somebody who shakes cameras around a lot.

I had to take off and refresh the top cover on my 135 after the E clip or circlip fell off the draft sensing rod thing and made it so it wouldn't lift at all, since then I got a 175 now also and I just discovered that it will not lift nearly as much. Time to refresh that one too I guess. At least it will lift my mower

I have top cover off my 165, just replacing cross shaft bushes but restoration has come to a stop, what with the cost of living sky high, trying to do bits that don't cost a lot.

Whats a good Manual to buy ..to make sure the lift arm and draft arm linkages are doing what they are supposed to do ......dont seem to be a lot of movement in them ......Are they both suppose to have cotter pins in the holes ?
@ClarenceFudWeasel
@ClarenceFudWeasel 2 жыл бұрын
The I & T manuals are a good start if you are already familiar with wrenching on old stuff, also the actual dealer manuals can be found on ebay as well. The cotter pins are just in there for assembly/disassembly to save the springs flying around while you are trying to get things back together. As soon as the cylinder is bolted back in place, you can take them out again.

Depends where it broke. Has it had any work done on it recently? If not, probably worn control linkage inside allowing the lift ram to travel too far and hit the casing.

The response control lever on the right side of the transmission case by the dipstick presses the top plunger and alters the flow of oil through it. It is a linear damper to moderate feedback from the control cams to the control valve. Thanks for watching.
