Hydretain, does it really work?

Join me to find out if Hydretain will work for me. Also applied a second application of Disease Ex. I also found some bad grass in the lawn.

Here is the video. Seems like a good idea for the few spots you have of bermuda. I have used Hydretain and was pleasantly surprised at it working well. I have bermuda in TX and during the summer I felt it helped with retaining water and I am ready to use it again soon. Just waiting for the rain to stop here first

I use Milo and ironight and water 1 inch every week if I see a weed I dig it out , I found out the more stuff I put on the lawn the worst it got now my lawn is the greatest since I decided to do basic , oh I do moe every two days highest setting. Your property is beautiful.

I've been looking into Hydretain too. Talked with the company and it is a common misconception that it pulls moisture out of atmospheric air. What it does do is pull moisture out of the air in the tiny spaces/pores in the soil so that it recaptures water vapor that is in the process of evaporating. That's why you need to continuously water your lawn to see the benefits of Hydretain. Think of it more as allowing you to keep more of the water you place on your lawn and allow you to go longer between waterings because less moisture is being lost to evaporation.

I screwed up when I mentioned the humidity in my area, I was mainly talking about the fact that I live about 3 miles from the beach so the humidity in the air should help the grass out more. We get severe Santa Ana winds here and the humidity drops between zero and 10% and everything dries out super fast. I will do another video on Hydretain and I will do a better job at explaining everything. I am super green to all of this and I leave out a lot of details. I appreciate the comment though. I got the same hose reel , i love that thing. I got mine at Tractor supply. I use flex Zilla water hoses on mine though, 200 ft of them. I have 22,000 ft of Bermuda.

I got mine at Sam's club several years ago, and then picked up 100' hose for like $30 from there too. I only have 1000 Sq ft in my backyard, my front yard is 2500 Sq ft but unfortunately I'm afraid my cameras will go missing if I record in the front. 22,000 Sq ft of Bermuda sounds like it could be fun to mow!!

I have been looking into this product also for some dry areas in my non irrigation lawn. I noticed the directions say to water the ground before you put it down also, not sure if you did that and it says to put down 1/2” water after as well. I want it to work but haven’t tried it yet, iamb still reviewing others videos. I hope it works for you I can’t imagine the water bill In California. I assume you also don’t get much rain

Honestly I can't remember if I did water the grass before I put it down. I did water it in though, I remember that part. I think my overall problem may be because I don't have an irrigation system in my backyard I'm not watering consistent, I'm gonna attempt to rig up some irrigation. We got about 4 inches of rain at my house this rain season and won't get anymore until probably November or December. I hope it will work for you. I'll do another video when I used it again.

How big is your back yard? Do you think using the entire bottle would have worked better, you might have said in your video and I apologize if I missed it

@@Thesimplehomeowner my backyard is just under 1000 Sq ft. Next time I use it I'll put down a lot more, I turned my water pressure down a bit in the areas that aren't problem spots. I won't do the the next time. I'll do a video on that but I want to ensure I have the sprinkler system rigged up for consistency.

Turflon Ester worked in controlling bermuda grass in my cool season lawn. It killed the bermuda but not the cool season grass. It took monthly applications and a couple seasons for it to really control the bermuda.

Thank you, that's good to know. I was looking for the quick fix, but sometimes the quick fix isn't the best. I'm gonna look into it!

Pete from GCI turf does You Tube videos as well and he used a foam based glysophate product on the few spots of bermuda in his Kentucky blue so would think that would help to eliminate the bermuda but control it from killing your desired grass. You should try it

@@ValorGhost I love Pete, that guy really knows his stuff. I forgot that I had seen that video, I've seen so many. Thank you for reminding me, unfortunately the damage is done to a majority of the Bermuda and i did buy the Trurflon Ester so I'm gonna try that first....if it fails I'll definitely go back and review Pete's video on the foam glyphosate.

You are right and I apologize for that. I did do an update video on hydretain. I will say for me, it didn't work the 1st time around. I water the same amount as before. But then again I'm sure there are a lot of factors that go into that. I don't have a sprinkler system so watering may not be the same every time. I don't discourage using it though. It works for a lot of people.

@@randyman8984 since I only have 1000 Sq ft I think I used the right amount, but I kinda figure that since I don't have a sprinkler system that could be part of the problem. I have more of a DIY system now that I should be able to do a better job. I'm gonna re-do/update the video soon.
