Masayuki Nagao, whom he confirmed in response to a fan in 2012, composed and programmed this masterpiece. Unlike most of Sonic 3&K's soundtrack, his compositions are substantially more intricate: the major 7th, minor 7th, seventh, suspended, and minor 6th chords (and their progressions), the improvised melodies, the countermelodies, and even using the chromatic scale. Additionally, one can identify his programming work relies on a particular set of YM2612 patches, such as the "reed organ" lead in 0:07, the backing "synth brass" heard throughout the track, and the basses.

Actually played some Sonic Adventure DX recently. It really isn’t my cup of tea. I actually stopped somewhere in the Tails storyline and never came back. However I must say that the music side of the game always delivered. I actually adore Sonic R‘s or Sonic Adventure 2‘s soundtrack as well. This is the first thing that comes in mind when i think of an act 2 track in a Sonic game, a track that tries to be like the original, but tries to be it's own thing at the same time, that's one of the reasons why this track is beloved by many peoples, including i.
